What this page is

This page quotes r/Mid_Century's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-05. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/Mid_Century's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

What its rules say about AI and bots

NO AI
Please do not use AI to generate your comments, responses, or identification. AI is a terrible source to use for this stuff and it will provide you with incorrect or nonsense answers pretty much every time.
All 7 rules of r/Mid_Century
  1. Do not link to sales listings.
This includes modern reproductions and sales listings on sites like 1stdibs, chairish or active auction listings. You can link to ended auction results.
  2. Sales listings do not count as sources for an ID. Full Stop. No debating this.
I can show you thousands upon thousands of second hand sales listings on ALL PLATFORMS that are full of complete BS information. I know so many have come to think google gives you answers, it doesn't it gives you popular links and even then it prioritizes popular PROFITABLE links, this is almost always sales listings.
  3. If you make a claim give your source.
Its simple really. If you make a claim, you will probably be asked by a mod or user to provide the source of this claim. If its a sales listing, your comment will probably get deleted. If you do it enough and we feel it is a problem you could get banned for this. I have stickied a post I made about where to find actual resources for this stuff, see that post for help understanding good resources to find IDs.
  4. 4. No personal shopping
Please do not ask which knockoffs are best. Please don't ask if anyone has had (contemporary furniture brand) and what they think. Please don't ask things like "I am in the market for a (insert item) where can I find one? There are subs that specifically deal in knockoffs, there plenty of google reviews online. I know it seems innocent enough but these questions, even when asked in earnest (they often are not), just lead to tons of links to sales listings.
  5. NO AI
Please do not use AI to generate your comments, responses, or identification. AI is a terrible source to use for this stuff and it will provide you with incorrect or nonsense answers pretty much every time.
  6. No personal shopping
We cannot decide what you want to buy. Buy what you like, read reviews, decide for yourself.
  7. This sub is dedicated to designs that were designed in the mid century period.
Generally the mid century period for the purposes of this group is the post WW2 era (post 1945) to about 1970 or so. Please do not post contemporary items that are "mid century style". Please don't post things that are not modern in style, even if they are "mid century". Please don't post modern stuff if its not from the mid century. There are numerous subs about design from all eras, and most of the knowledgeable people in those topics are in those groups.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.

Let your AI read the rules before it posts.

ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
