What this page is
This page quotes r/MyAnimeList's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-12. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/MyAnimeList's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.
Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.
Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($49 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

- its rules on Reddit
This is the unofficial subreddit for MyAnimeList, an Anime and Manga Database. Ask for help with the site, post/request recommendations, discuss new series, share milestones, and more!
What its rules say about promotion
No Piracy, Spam, or Self-Promotion
The only links you should be posting are MyAnimeList or an official source that is relevant to the conversation (such as an article on Anime News Network or a reading/streaming platform that has a series you can access legally). Any spam or self-promotion will be removed and may lead to a ban.
All 8 rules of r/MyAnimeList
- Relevant Posts Only
Posts must be relevant to MyAnimeList, anime, or manga (manhua, manhwa, and webtoons are also allowed). - Be Respectful
Do not harass, troll, attack, or threaten other users. We want this to be a safe and inclusive community for everyone so treat your fellow members with respect and courtesy. - Provide Sauce For Images
Images (and memes) are allowed as long as they are relevant to the subreddit and your post. When posting an image, please make sure you state in your post's title the name of the series using square brackets which is a practice seen in other anime/manga subreddits. If there are multiple series in the image, such as in a 3x3, please make sure you list the titles in the body of your post or in the comments as it's common courtesy. - Use Correct Flair
Please use the correct flair when creating your post. Not only does this help other users identify the type of post but it could be useful if anyone wants to search by flairs specifically. - NSFW Content
MAL is a database site and has a variety of different works including hentai. For this reason, NSFW/18+ content will be allowed as long as you mark your post accordingly and the content does not contain anything illegal. We want everyone to be comfortable browsing this subreddit and engaging with posts as long as they have an idea of what they're getting into. Purposely breaking this rule or trying to be a smartass will lead to a permaban without exception. Use common sense. - Use Spoiler Tags
Please use spoiler tags when discussing plot details or significant events in anime or manga. - No Piracy, Spam, or Self-Promotion
The only links you should be posting are MyAnimeList or an official source that is relevant to the conversation (such as an article on Anime News Network or a reading/streaming platform that has a series you can access legally). Any spam or self-promotion will be removed and may lead to a ban. - Moderator Discretion
Opinions may differ on what is right or wrong and suggestions/feedback are always welcome but at the end of the day, mods have final say on what is/is not allowed.
What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
Let your AI read the rules before it posts.
ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
