What this page is

This page quotes r/PcBuild's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-05. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/PcBuild's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

This is a sub for Pc-Building enthusiasts, where you can get and give help about anything! (Questions, Budgets, Pablo, etc.)

What its rules say about promotion

No spam or advertising
This is not a subreddit for buying or selling components - there are other subreddits for this. Asking for donations or free components will also result in a ban. No advertising or posting surveys etc. without moderator permission. Explicit advertising will result in a ban. Excessive posting of news, articles, etc. counts as spam and will result in a ban.

What its rules say about AI and bots

Low Effort Posting
Reposts of memes, trend posts, shitposts, AI content, rage bait, and intentionally incendiary content - especially when unrelated to PC hardware (such as memes about video games) are not permitted on r/pcbuild. This is to keep the sub fresh, entertaining, informative and to prevent the sub from becoming boring and over-saturated with slop. This a rule left up to moderator discretion
Bots/AI Content
This applies to bots, spam accounts, and AI generated content (text or visual). Don't rely on AI generation for your post and replies if you don't want to risk being banned. Some human posts/content may get incorrectly removed under this rule, feel free to repost or recomment. If you get incorrectly banned under this rule, please submit an appeal.
All 10 rules of r/PcBuild
  1. We Spoonfeed
We have a 'no dumb question' policy on this subreddit, so ask away, we are a pro-beginner subreddit! That being said - please follow reddiquette and try to consult google or use the search function before making a new post to ask a question with a easily found answer. Also, try to provide adequate amounts of information in order to receive a helpful answer to your question or request.
  2. Be kind
Attacking/harassing other users or using hurtful, hateful, or derogatory language is neither permitted nor tolerated. This applies to rage-baiting/trolling and posting intentionally inflammatory content. Ask yourself if you would say this to someone's face.
  4. No pictures of PCPartpicker lists
https://pcpartpicker.com is the 'industry standard' resource for selecting PC components - unless your country isn't supported, you should probably use it. However, screenshots of pcpartpicker lists are subject to removal - share links only for the sake of ease of use. This rule only applies to PCPP because it makes sharing links so easy and universally accessible, this isn't the case for other platforms. Guide on adding a link or a formatted pcpartpicker list: https://imgur.com/a/EUqqBZB
  5. No Piracy (see description for info on windows licensing)
[Microsoft provides completely legit installation guides for installing windows for free](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/create-installation-media-for-windows-99a58364-8c02-206f-aa6f-40c3b507420d#id0ejd=windows_11) However discussion of 'free' or 'cheap' 3rd party/gray market windows activation keys is prohibited, buying these are not only dubiously legal but many of these sites are filled with scams. Don't google MAS. Hint hint
  7. Provide Enough Information
If you are posting on here seeking advice or help, include the necessary information for people to helpfully advise you and resolve your question or request. When making a new post using the correct post flair, you will see a list of what you need to include to avoid removal. Generally, you should always include: - Your budget - Your country - Your use-case - The prices for whatever you're considering buying - A clear description of the problem you're troubleshooting
  9. Misinformation (see description)
Spreading blatant misinformation is not permitted on r/pcbuild. Just try to provide sources to claims and look into the validity of sources and claims before commenting or posting. Disagreeing with someone does not mean they are spreading misinformation, hardware is more subjective than people may believe. This rule depends on moderator discretion and removals will not be handed out frivolously. Removals served under this rule will always come with moderator justification.
  10. Use the Correct Post Flair
The flairs include helpful posting guidance as well so you can avoid removal and ensure you're providing enough information for people to be able to answer your question or request. Using the correct flair will also help people find your post and contribute. Usually using the wrong flair alone won't result in a removal unless it's also paired with breaking other rules. Basically, just use the correct flair and following the posting guidance.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.

Let your AI read the rules before it posts.

ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
