What this page is
This page quotes r/pdf's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-07. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/pdf's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.
Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.
Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

r/PDF is a community for users to ask questions and engage in discussions about creating, reading, and editing PDFs.
What its rules say about promotion
No spam
r/PDF removes spam, repetitive promotion, irrelevant links, bot-like activity, and low-effort AI-generated comments or posts. Do not repeatedly post the same link, copy promotional comments across threads, or mention software or websites when they do not directly help answer the question. Do not share files or links containing malware, credential theft, scams, or other harmful content. Repeat offenders may be banned. See Rule 2 for permitted tool recommendations and self-promotion.
No self-promotion
r/PDF allows fully free or open-source PDF tools when they directly address the post. Creators and affiliated accounts must disclose their connection. Paid, freemium, trial-based, or non-open-source tools, products, websites, and services require prior ModMail approval. This also applies to affiliated accounts. No affiliate or referral links, discount codes, or promotional private messages.
Discouraged posts
Avoid general post asking "what PDF software do you recommend?", as they attract extreme amounts of spam comments and have to be removed. Be more specific. The same goes for "what would you like to see in something I'm working on". Do not try to "sell" subscriptions you may have ended up with. Be careful about posts about bank statements (and other documents with highly confidential info).
No AI-generated software or website
Do not recommend or promote AI-generated PDF tools or websites that have no clear, substantive functionality, make misleading claims, or exist primarily to collect traffic, data, or payments. Software that uses AI as a genuine feature is allowed, provided it follows Rule 2 and is relevant to the discussion.
Avoid spam magnets
Some posts attract large volumes of promotional comments, bot responses, or other low-quality replies. To protect the community, moderators may remove or lock such posts even when they were made in good faith. This action is based on the actual discussion and moderation burden, not necessarily on wrongdoing by the original poster. This happens with questions that ask for general recommendations. Consider asking for something a little more specific.

What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
Let your AI read the rules before it posts.
ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
