- its rules on Reddit
Retail Hell is a place for workers in the retail space to come together and support each other. Vent about your bad experience. Bitch about your boss. Tell us a heartwarming story about the customer who turned your day around. Post a funny meme.
What its rules say about AI and bots
No TikTok videos or AI content
TikTok and other short form brainrot is not allowed, regardless of context. This also applies to anything that is clearly made using AI.
All 6 rules of r/retailhell
- Be respectful to Retail Workers.
We want to make this crystal clear. This is the easiest way to get a permanent ban. Any posts or comments that insult, degrade or devalue those working retail will not be tolerated. This rule is strictly enforced, there won't be any warnings, we don't tolerate this rule being broken. This sub is for those working retail to be free from the abuse they are used to from the public. And just so we're extra clear, telling anyone "just do your job", "stop whining" or the like is grounds for a ban. - Keep it about working retail.
This sub is meant for retail workers to talk about work. We define "retail" as any business that sells a product to its final customer (so things like grocery, gas stations, and food service would all fit here). Customer posting, even if you're being positive, is not allowed. Sorry, there are plenty of subs for you to talk about your customer experience, this is not one of them. - No TikTok videos or AI content
TikTok and other short form brainrot is not allowed, regardless of context. This also applies to anything that is clearly made using AI. - Certain contentious topics may result in comment locking or thread pruning
Certain topics bring out the worst in the internet. For example, posts about shoplifting or self-checkout seem to be an invitation for customer-brained idiots to come into our sub and lecture us on how our stores should be run (and sometimes we can be dicks about these issues as well). Other topics, like politics or customers' ethnicities (yes, people keep posting that shit), will be deleted and may result in a ban depending on what's being said. - Be Excellent to Each Other
We're all in this shit-hell together and we'd hate to lose you because you can't be civil to your comrades in arms. Just don't be dicks to each other, okay? This included any form of bigotry or intolerance. You'd think I wouldn't have to say that last part, but here we are. Fighting or arguing may lead to a temporary ban to give you some time to chill the fuck out. - Mark images if bodily functions as NSFW, tag as a spoiler, and use the "Gross!" flair
Not everyone wants to see that stuff, so give people the option to NOT see it. We'd like you to AT LEAST tag it as a spoiler so that it's blurred out for everyone.
What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
Let your AI read the rules before it posts.
ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
