What its rules say about AI and bots

No low-effort content
Please search before posting. Posts without sufficient effort or relevance will be removed, such as: - Screenshots instead of links to articles/websites - Lazy requests without specific details - Common FAQs or questions that can be answered with a quick google or reddit search (try [r/AskSeattle](https://reddit.com/r/askseattle)) - Generative AI content without substantial commentary or human influence - Unrelated rants and off-topic discussion that don't contribute to meaningful conversation
All 10 rules of r/Seattle
  1. Be Good - No hate, bigotry, or harassment
We do not allow personal attacks or abusive / hateful language towards users. No slurs, abusive, toxic, or discriminatory content, including hate speech, racism, sexism, transphobic, homophobic, ableist, or xenophobic content. This also covers doxxing, trolling, harassing or intimidating users, brigading subreddits, witch-hunts, non-consensual images/videos, and suggestions of violence. This is not an exhaustive list. Flagrant violations will result in immediate and sometimes permanent bans.
  2. Keep posts Seattle-related
Posts must be relevant to the city of Seattle or the greater metro area (King, Snohomish, Pierce, and Kitsap counties). International or national news without a specific or relevant local slant does not suffice.
  3. Limit reposts and repetitive topics
Reposts of articles will be removed. Posts of different articles covering the same topic may also be removed if the new articles do not contain significant deviation in reporting or new information. Posts about topics that have been previously resolved or discussed ad nauseum will be removed at moderator discretion. Please search before posting.
  5. Use r/AskSeattle for recommendations
This includes questions or recommendations on neighborhoods, where to eat / stay / visit, moving tips, hidden gems, etc. Instead, please direct these questions to r/AskSeattle, post in our [weekly pinned AskSeattle thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/Seattle/?f=flair_name%3A%22Weekly%20Thread%22), or check out the [/r/Seattle discord](https://reddit.com/r/seattle).
  6. No advertisements, self-promotion, sales, or classifieds
Do not post any form of advertisement or self-promotion, including personal projects or anything you are affiliated with or could benefit from promoting. This includes but is not limited to self-affiliated businesses, sites/apps, services, events, promos, giveaways, referral codes, or ticket links. Do not post anything promoting a potential transaction or classified, such as items for sale, pet rehoming, or job listings.. Giveaways of free items are allowed; please use “FREE” in the title.
  7. Do not editorialize
Post titles of articles should properly match the article headline if possible. These post titles should be factual and free from clickbait phrases, editorialization, and misleading information. Do not add personal commentary in the body of these posts, add it as a comment on the post.
  8. No crowdfunding, surveys, or data gathering
Do not share links to crowdfunding sites or any other requests for donations or financial assistance. Any posts or comments in violation will be removed. Do not post surveys or forms for the purpose of market research or data collection. Posts including links or codes to sign up for events may be allowed at moderator discretion. Verifiable employees from local universities administrating clinical trials or studies should contact the moderation team with details for post approval.
  9. Follow standards for posts about crime
Posts claiming to witness a crime, or accusing someone of a crime, must provide evidence of the alleged crime within the post. This can be a photo/video, a news article, or other substantial evidence that proves said crime took place. Claims of ICE sightings require the same forms of proof. If you need to verify content privately you must contact the moderators before posting. Posts must not contain requests for identifying, locating, or engaging with suspected individuals.
  10. Follow standards for missing people, pets, or items posts
Do not post lost or missing flyers unless they were made by you. Missing people, pets, or stolen property posts must contain pictures and last known location. Missing person or vehicle posts must include a police case number and **may not contain personal contact information**. Users should **only** be directed to contact police, tiplines, or news agencies, otherwise posts will be removed without exception.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.

Let your AI read the rules before it posts.
