What its rules say about promotion

No self-promotion
While we encourage sharing useful resources and insights, excessive self-promotion is not allowed. Please refrain from posting promotional content or spamming links to your own website or services
No Links / No Self-Promo Links
To keep discussions clean and unbiased, links are not allowed in posts or comments. This includes URLs, shortened links, referral/affiliate links, “link in bio” directions, and screenshots meant to route people to a website. If you want to share a resource, describe it in plain text (name + what it does + why it matters) without posting a link. If someone needs it, they can search for it themselves. Posts or comments containing links may be removed.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
