What this page is

This page quotes r/StopGaming's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-05. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/StopGaming's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

StopGaming exists to help those who struggle with or have struggled with compulsive gaming or video game addiction.

All 5 rules of r/StopGaming
  1. Don't be a dick.
This is a catchall for bad behavior. Use your best judgement. Don't be unnecessarily rude to anyone. Don't talk about how amazing a game or games are. Don't try to persuade people not to quit.
  2. Don't beg.
Don't ask for anyone's Steam account, games, or anything else here.
  3. Don't get rid of your stuff here.
Don't try to get rid of your accounts, computers, or anything else here. We're not craigslist.
  4. Don’t justify or rationalize gaming.
This forum is for people who identify as gaming addicts, for whom gaming has become a self-destructive habit. We have justified our own gaming habits for far too long already.
  5. No relationship or parenting advice.
StopGaming allows posts from partners and family members who are affected by the gaming behavior of their loved ones. However, this is not a relationship or parenting advice forum so please refrain from such discussion. Share your personal, relevant experience but do not give advice.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
