This community isn't r/hardwareswap or Kickstarter, if you want to giveaway a game go to r/RandomActsOfGaming or similar communities (don't post codes in plain text as bots will claim them). We also do not allow non-reputable stores, auction sites, keyshops and affiliate links (without permission from the mod team).

* All promotional posts must be approved by the moderation team * Post must be made relevant to the steam deck * Post should be unique and invite/encourage discussion (i.e., should be more than "check out my game/video/product") * You are encouraged to engage in discussion in the comments of your post. * All promotional posts must clearly disclose any affiliations or sponsorships. Please message modmail for approval for self-promotion before posting.

  1. Be Kind Or Get Banned
    ZERO tolerance. Act right or leave. Bullying, harassment, trolling, or antagonistic behavior (including falsely reporting posts) = immediate ban, no warning. Don't instigate drama. Don't talk politics, this is a gaming sub. Don't report posts because you don't like them. If you have content removed and you approach the mods with courtesy, we will fix it or kindly explain why. If you are rude about it, we will ban you instead. All bans are at mod discretion. This list is not exhaustive.
  2. Posts must be about or related to the Steam Deck
    Posts must be on-topic and relevant to the Steam Deck (not just vaguely or tangentially related). Posts that are not allowed include: * Unrelated posts - Submissions unrelated to the Steam Deck * Peer requests - e.g. friend requests, LFG requests, etc. * Game request posts - discussion posts are permitted * "Bug" posts that are done to death, e.g 1969 reservation message, reservation message on Deck * Other questions that are easily answered via an online search.
  3. Generic / New Steam Deck Pictures Limited To "Show Off Saturday" (GMT Timezone)
    Generic images and New Steam Deck posts are limited to "Show Off Saturday" so other posts can get more attention during the week. This limitation doesn't apply to "Game On Deck", "Accessory", "Setup" and "Hardware / Software Modding" posts which have their own rules. Generic pictures include: - Traveling with Steam Deck - Playing with a Steam Deck in random locations - Steam Deck with pets - Waiting with a Steam Deck (This list is not exhaustive, we may remove other similarly themed posts)
  4. "Game Review On Deck" Posts Must Include Game In The Title And Steam Deck Experience
    We want to avoid having to ask what the game is called or what it's like to play it on Deck, try adding as many details as possible such as performance, user experience (interface and controls) and any other information related to the Steam Deck experience. The intention for "Game Review On Deck" posts is to show a game working on the Steam Deck and what the experience with it is like. It's not for asking if it is compatible or how well it runs - that's what the "Question" flair is for.
  5. Requirements For "Accessory Review", "Setup" and "Hardware / Software Modding" Posts
    Posts flaired with "Accessory Review", "Setup", or "Hardware / Software Modding" must include personal experience and a list of parts / things used. This helps others make informed decisions and reduce redundant questions.
  6. “What Are You Playing?” Limited To Weekly Megathread And "Looking For Games" Post Requirements
    “What are you playing?” posts are restricted to the weekly megathread. Feel free to share what you’re currently playing there or making a detailed "Game On Deck" post (read rules). "Looking For Games" posts have a template system which require the following exact words to be included in this order: "Previously Enjoyed Games", "Preferred Genres", "Budget", "Other Notes". This is to ensure quality discussions and to make sure other people can help better in answering your question.

  8. Avoid Overly Repetitive Content (eg. Steam Deck purchase and shipping questions)
    If your post is about a topic that’s been asked many times before (e.g. “Should I buy a Steam Deck in [year]?” or “Can the Steam Deck run [game]?”), it may be removed. 🔍 Tip: Before posting, use the subreddit’s search bar or check pinned resources to see if your question has already been answered. Why? This helps keep the subreddit fresh and avoids cluttering it with repetitive content. If your post is removed, AutoModerator will try to leave a comment with links to helpful resources.
  9. No links/discussion of illegal, copyrighted or pirated content
    Please do not discuss or share links to illegal, copyrighted or pirated content. Examples of content not allowed: * Links directly to pirated games, ROMs or BIOSes * Discussion or encouragement to partake in piracy * Technical support for pirated games/software, including repacks and No CD cracks (except for abandonware) Notable exclusions from the rule: * The game/software is abandonware * Discussion regarding performance penalty vs legal version (aka Denuvo performance drops)
  10. Provide Context in Help Requests
    Provide Context in Help Requests 🛠️ Include details like: • 🔧 The issue (e.g., game performance, accessory compatibility). • 🎮 Setup/preferences (e.g., “I prefer wireless accessories”). • ❓ Specific advice needed (e.g., “Best SD card for emulation”). Why? Posts without context may confuse users and be removed. Example: “Looking for a 20,000mAh USB-C power bank for travel.” If removed, you’ll get a comment asking for more info to repost.
  11. No impersonation, claiming to have "insider knowledge", or posting intentional misinformation
    Please do not impersonate another entity, claim to have insider knowledge when you do not, or provide intentional misinformation. Examples of content not allowed: * Advising a user to run a dangerous Linux terminal command * Creating an account to mimic a trusted entity * Claiming insider knowledge on an accessory or software update that is untrue

  13. Do not attempt to obfuscate your submission to bypass filtering
    We implement a variety of different automated filters to ensure that the rules are enforced effectively and fairly. Please do not try to obfuscate your submissions to avoid filters, including: * Using incorrect flairs on purpose * Censoring parts of an insult, piracy link or shipping post * Using image posts for what should be a text post.
  14. No Abusing the report button
    Please don't report posts just because you don't like them, that's what downvotes are for. Reports are for posts that break sub rules and need immediate mod attention, not just because "I don't like this post" or "I don't think this topic belongs here." Reports are used to analyze sub content, tell mods if there are toxic users or posts that some may find insulting or offensive. Please don't indiscriminately report everything, use discretion and good judgement when reporting.
  15. Bad AI slop or frequent gen ai post.
    Use this if you are seeing a large amount of AI slop content and it's bad or spamming the feed.
