What this page is

This page quotes r/stopsmoking's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-10. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/stopsmoking's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

This reddit is a place for redditors to motivate each other to quit smoking. We welcome anyone who wishes to join in by asking or giving advice, sharing stories, or just encouraging someone who is trying to quit.

What its rules say about promotion

No spamming.
No spamming including studies, surveys, or asking people to click links to your program to quit smoking. This is a support group for people trying to quit smoking, not a research class or advertising space.
All 6 rules of r/stopsmoking
  1. Please be kind, courteous, and supportive even if someone isn't being that way to you.
Our first and most important rule is that we be kind, courteous, and supportive with each other. Even (and maybe especially) people that aren't being kind to us. If someone is breaking this rule, please don't reply, use the report button and we'll sort it out. Remember that you're here to actively inspire people toward success, yourself included.
  2. No romanticizing nicotine/tobacco, etc.
Be mindful of your audience. There are new quitters in the sub nearly every day. There are people who have quit who are fighting thoughts of relapse. Romanticizing or going on about enjoyment of tobacco/nicotine/vaping, flavors, etc. and the like-- i.e., a crave triggering post or comment--is inappropriate. Posts or comments such as these, depending upon the length, context and severity, may be removed without notice to the poster for the health of this sub and the people in it.
  3. Pictures & videos of smoking, vaping, vapes, cigarettes, etc. will probably be removed.
These types of pictures can be potentially triggering to quitters, so please refrain from posting images of cigarettes, smoking, vaping, etc. If the picture is of your phlegm, it should be behind a NSFW filter
  4. Do not solicit or provide medical advice.
Do not solicit or provide medical advice. Any concerned parties should contact their doctor for medical concerns and/or advice.
  5. Submissions must be related to quitting smoking.
Do not submit photos, videos, or memes that are not related to the quitting smoking.
  6. No spamming.
No spamming including studies, surveys, or asking people to click links to your program to quit smoking. This is a support group for people trying to quit smoking, not a research class or advertising space.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.

Let your AI read the rules before it posts.

ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
