What this page is

This page quotes r/Surveying's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-11. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/Surveying's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($49 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

A global community for Land Surveyors to discuss all things surveying, from the office to the field.

What its rules say about promotion

No Advertising / No Surveys or Questionnaires
We're a community, not a bulletin board or marketplace. You may not use us to increase the popularity, profit, or market presence of a personal project. Sharing of original content and personal land surveying-related websites is encouraged, but retain a proper ratio with other subreddit content. No buying, selling of any kind, no crowdsourcing or crowdfunding posts. No Surveys or Questionnaires.
All 6 rules of r/Surveying
  1. Stay on Topic
All comments and submissions must be relevant to the land surveying profession. All pictures and videos should include surveyors or surveying equipment/materials. If it is not obvious that your photo/video is related to surveying, it will likely be removed at the moderator's discretion.
  2. Be Kind to Each Other
We're all humans. No racism, bigotry, name-calling, threats of violence, baiting, or overt prejudice. No verbal attacks and no hate speech. Critical discussion of, and generalized attacks of ideas are encouraged, but always be respectful of the individual or group. Be civil. Violators will be warned and/or banned at moderator discretion. We follow reddiquette and reddit’s sitewide rules governing certain types of content. Use the report button, do not engage with trolls.
  4. Have Questions? Search First
Many users have already asked these questions, do a search first.
  5. No “Low-Effort” Posts
Your post should provide something new; whether original content, a link, a story, an anecdote, or something else - put some effort into it! Memes are acceptable in moderation. Mod discretion will be used.
  6. Job Listings Must Include Salary Information
Any job listings must include detailed salary information inside the submission itself. Overposting/spamming job listings will result in your post being removed. Mod discretion will be used.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.

Let your AI read the rules before it posts.

ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
