What this page is
This page quotes r/UsabilityPorn's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-11. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/UsabilityPorn's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.
Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.
Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? - its rules on Reddit
Share how you use your *nix operating system and don't forget to include screenshots/pictures! r/UnixPorn has inspired a lot of creativity in the *nix community. However, there is one problem. A lot of the setups are too "riced-out" and unappealing for long-term desktop use. This subreddit is an attempt to form a community around the love of practical, cosy, and solid desktop experiences.
All 7 rules of r/UsabilityPorn
- Screenshots must have at least one window open.
You may include a screenshot of your blank desktop if necessary as an additional image in the album. - Image links must be from trusted providers
Image links should either be from Imgur or reddit's built-in image service. Please don't use the Imgur album link unless you are posting an album. - Follow reddiquette
Follow the [reddiquette](https://www.reddit.com/wiki/reddiquette) - only *nix operating systems are allowed.
Right now only *nix (Linux, BSD (That includes Mac OS)) operating systems are allowed. This is open for discussion though. - Moderators can be wrong.
Don't hesitate to message the mods if your post has been wrongfully deleted. - Prefix your post properly
Following the r/UnixPorn tradition, please prefix your post title with square brackets and the name of your desktop environment or window manager inside. Example: [Cinnamon] Linux Mint has been a bliss so far! However, this sub can offer a lot more than pretty screenshots. Discussions are encouraged. For discussions and educational topics, prefixes are optional. For consistency, if you are providing a tip, you may use the "[Usability Tip]" prefix. - No desktop/distro elitism
You should never shame another user for using a desktop/distro you do not prefer.
What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
Let your AI read the rules before it posts.
ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
