What this page is
This page quotes r/venting's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-07. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/venting's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.
Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). Some days are just a series of 'you’ve got to be kidding me' moments, right? Here’s your spot to unload all those little (or not-so-little) annoyances—whether it’s loud chewers, endless meetings, or life just being ridiculous. No advice, no fixing, just pure, satisfying venting.
What its rules say about promotion
Zero Tolerance for Hate speech based on Identity or Vulnerability
While venting often involves intense emotions, we maintain a strict zero-tolerance policy for hate speech of any kind or form. You may not use slurs or derogatory language, and you may not attack, or promote violence against any individual or group based on race, gender, sexual orientation, or disability.
No Advertisements, Fundraisers, or Promotions
Promotional links, survey solicitations, social media plugging, and financial requests (including GoFundMe, Venmo, or cash apps) are strictly prohibited.
All 14 rules of r/venting
- Posting Guidelines
General: * Venting must be about specific personal experiences or feelings. * We strongly encourage the use Flairs or Trigger Warnings (TW) in the title of your post. Sensitive Content: * You may vent about emotional pain or seek peer support, but posts involving SH or suicide that include direct plans, explicit methods, or immediate statements of intent are not allowed. * Posts involving SH, suicidal ideation, sexual assault, or abuse must be tagged both NSFW and SPOILER - Posts involving Minors
We do not allow any posts or comments that involve the abuse, assault, or potential exploitation of a minor, including: * Posts by a minor describing ongoing or recent abuse. * Content that discusses the active abuse of a minor. * Any content that could put a minor at risk of harm, harassment, or unwanted contact * Content containing explicit or detailed accounts of the abuse of a minor. If you are a minor in an unsafe situation, please reach out to a trusted adult or a crisis resource - Zero Tolerance for Encouraging Self-Harm or Suicide
Never encourage, glorify, or provide instructions for self-harm, violence, or suicide. Comments telling someone to harm themselves or validating suicidal ideation are prohibited. - Zero Tolerance for Hate speech based on Identity or Vulnerability
While venting often involves intense emotions, we maintain a strict zero-tolerance policy for hate speech of any kind or form. You may not use slurs or derogatory language, and you may not attack, or promote violence against any individual or group based on race, gender, sexual orientation, or disability. - Vent About Individuals, Not Groups
Keep all venting focused on personal situations or individuals, not entire demographics. Sweeping generalizations, gender warfare, and radicalized rhetoric are not allowed. - Be Civil
Do not engage with arguing, name-calling, rudeness, trolling, bullying, derailing, or abusive language. - No Victim-Blaming, Invalidating, or Gatekeeping
We welcome gentle grounding practices and calm, objective feedback to help posters work through spiraling thoughts. Dismissive invalidation, victim-blaming, and trauma gatekeeping are prohibited. Offer perspective with empathy, or scroll past. - Respect Advice Boundaries
Pay attention to whether a poster is asking for advice or simply venting. Unsolicited lectures, scolding, or aggressive "tough love" when an OP explicitly asked only to vent will be removed. - No naming/linking specific users or subreddits
Do not include identifying information related to real names, social media handles, Reddit usernames, links to other subreddits, or off-site communities. - Do not push Religion on others
We recognize that religion and spirituality may be a source of comfort and support for many people; however, mentions of religion or spiritual practices must be personal and contextual, not meant to proselytize or debate. - No Advertisements, Fundraisers, or Promotions
Promotional links, survey solicitations, social media plugging, and financial requests (including GoFundMe, Venmo, or cash apps) are strictly prohibited. - No Spam, Filter Circumvention, or Unreadable Content
Keep all content legible and unique. We do not allow spam, duplicate posts, unreadable content, or the deliberate misspelling of sensitive terms to dodge moderation. - Follow Reddit's Content Policy
All posts and comments must adhere strictly to Reddit’s sitewide Content Policy. - Moderator Discretion
Sometimes a post or comment is removed for the safety and health of the community, to prevent/mitigate brigading, or due to unique circumstances.
What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
Let your AI read the rules before it posts.
ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
