Can you promote on r/Volcanoes?

Allowed, with limits Its rules allow sharing your own work, with conditions they spell out.

What this page is

This page quotes r/Volcanoes's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-12. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/Volcanoes's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($49 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

A subreddit for the videos, articles, pictures, and discussion of and about volcanoes!

What its rules say about promotion

Karma/Link Farming
Image posts must have the name of the volcano, the state/country it is located in, and if possible the date of the image and the source. This includes self-promotion.
All 8 rules of r/Volcanoes
  1. Conspiracy Theory
Regardless of whether or not you believe in them, this is not the place for unfounded or conspiracy-type theories.
  2. Sensationalism/Clickbait/Low Quality Source
Remember that extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Contrary to what television specials convey, Yellowstone is not going to erupt tomorrow.
  3. All-Caps
All-caps are not acceptable in post titles. (except Common/technical acronyms)
  4. Karma/Link Farming
Image posts must have the name of the volcano, the state/country it is located in, and if possible the date of the image and the source. This includes self-promotion.
  5. Non-English
While volcanoes occur worldwide, this subreddit is made up of primarily english speakers. For the ease of communication this subreddit will be in English only.
  6. Be Respectul
This isn't difficult to explain, be respectful to others.
  7. Low Effort Posts
Art and Diagrams on this subreddit must reach a quality standard. Art must depict an actual volcano that exists in the real world, and must include the name and location of said volcano.
  8. Artwork
This is not an artwork sub, if artwork is posted be high effort and portray a volcano that exists in real life.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.

Let your AI read the rules before it posts.

ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
