What its rules say about promotion
Stay on topic
This is a Wattpad-focused community for Indian writers and readers. Posts should be about Wattpad stories, writing tips, feedback requests, Wattpad events, or related Indian writing topics (e.g., Indian romance, desi fantasy, etc.). Off-topic posts (memes, politics, unrelated self-promo, etc.) will be removed or redirected to more suitable subreddits
No spam or excessive self-promotion
Do not post your Wattpad story link in every thread or in comments without permission. Only share your own work in designated “Story Promotion” or “Feedback Request” threads, and follow any format the mods set (e.g., genre, rating, word count). No “upvote my story” or “comment for karma” posts; they will be removed.
No NSFW or illegal content
Explicit sexual content, pornography, or extremely graphic material is not allowed. Wattpad stories with mature themes are okay if properly flaired and linked, but no direct NSFW images or videos. Do not post or promote anything illegal (piracy, hate, threats, etc.).
All 11 rules of r/WattpadIndia
- Be respectful and kind
Treat everyone with respect, whether they’re new writers, experienced authors, or just readers. No personal attacks, hate speech, bullying, or discriminatory language based on caste, religion, gender, region, or any other identity. Constructive criticism is welcome, but keep it polite and focused on the work, not the person. - Stay on topic

Do not post or promote anything illegal (piracy, hate, threats, etc.). - Keep discussions civil and constructive
Avoid drama, flame wars, and “witch hunts” over Wattpad stories or authors. If you disagree, do so politely and focus on ideas, not insults. No “vote brigading” (organizing upvotes/downvotes) or vote manipulation. - Privacy and safety
Do not share anyone’s personal information (real name, phone number, address, etc.) without their explicit consent. Respect others’ privacy; don’t dox, harass, or stalk writers or readers. If someone asks you to remove a comment or tag, please respect their request. - How to ask for help or feedback
When asking for feedback on your Wattpad story, give context: genre, target audience, what kind of feedback you want (plot, grammar, pacing, etc.). Be open to honest but kind critiques; don’t argue with every comment. If mods create a “Feedback Friday” or “Promo Sunday” thread, use those instead of making separate posts. - Moderation and reporting
The mods have the final say on rule enforcement and what’s allowed in the community. If you see a rule violation (spam, harassment, off-topic posts), report it using Reddit’s report button or send a modmail instead of arguing in comments. If you get banned or your post is removed and you’re unsure why, send a polite modmail to ask for clarification. - No Reader Shaming
Do not insult, mock, or belittle readers for their tastes, preferred tropes, ships, kinks (legal), genres, reading level, or experience. This includes statements like “only idiots read this”, “cringe readers”, or similar gatekeeping behavior. - Zero Tolerance: Sexual Content Involving Minors
Any post, discussion, recommendation, or defense of sexual or romantic content involving minors is strictly prohibited. This includes fictional characters who are explicitly under 18. Immediate removal and ban will apply. - Political & Religious Discussions
Political or religious debates, advocacy, campaigning, or preaching are not permitted in community spaces. Books may explore these subjects, but discussions must remain focused on the book and its themes. Present opinions as perspectives, not facts, and respect differing viewpoints.
What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
