What its rules say about promotion
A Subreddit for Discussion
We currently do not allow meme-posting. If you have a product you'd like to advertise (Storytellers' Vault material, etc), [please review our advertisement rules before posting](https://www.reddit.com/r/WhiteWolfRPG/wiki/ads).
All 11 rules of r/WhiteWolfRPG
- Respect the Topic
Submissions and comments should be both relevant and directly related to WoD, CofD, Exalted or another White Wolf roleplaying game. Additionally, avoid low-effort posts like "This music video reminds me of Wraith". - Respect Other People
Don’t personally attack other users, members of their gaming groups, and so on. Don't make racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, or abelist comments or otherwise use slurs. Do not make broad declarations that attack a group of people to get around making a “personal” attack. - Respect the Conversation
Don’t try to incite others to break the rules, or distract from the subject at hand. Don't make off-topic comments in submissions - this includes threadcrapping, the posting of short messages or images which add nothing to a thread and serve only to express a user’s displeasure with it. - Respect Others' Preferences
It’s fine to like or dislike certain aspects of the products, but not okay to get into hostile arguments over, for example, preferred Clans, Tribes, Traditions, or editions of a game. - Respect privacy
This is a Reddit-level rule, not specific to this subreddit, but bears repeating. Don’t doxx (post personal information, such as physical addresses, e-mail addresses, phone numbers, or social networking data). Don't post private messages or e-mail messages from other users without their permission. - Don't Spread OOC Falsehoods
Discussing the fictional WoD, CofD, or Exalted settings necessarily involves fictional statements. False statements or insinuations regarding real people or organizations are not allowed. - Don't Endorse or Discuss Illegal Activities
Substantial leeway will be granted for discussion of illegal activities within fictional settings, but many subjects (particularly media piracy or illegal filesharing) are entirely prohibited. - No Conflicts With Other Communities
If you have issues with moderation, policy, or users on another subreddit, forum, chat, etc., do not complain about it here. Do not make submissions or comments that target a different subreddit or link to threads in a different subreddit for the purpose of brigading. Additionally, all cross-Subreddit actions that violate Reddiquette will result in a ban from this Subreddit. - A Subreddit for Discussion
We currently do not allow meme-posting. If you have a product you'd like to advertise (Storytellers' Vault material, etc), [please review our advertisement rules before posting](https://www.reddit.com/r/WhiteWolfRPG/wiki/ads). - No Edition Warring
Pursuant to rule 4, posts and comments will be removed if they falls outside of the following guidelines: * Stating your preferred edition is fine if someone asks, so long as you don't use this to broadly attack other editions. * Civil discussion of specific mechanics or setting elements is fine, so long as you don't use this to broadly attack other editions. * Specific criticism of editions, including aggregations of that criticism, is fine, but it should encourage discussion. - Rule: XX (Other)
The moderators may find it necessary to remove posts or curtail user privileges for circumstances not listed above. If we find ourselves taking action in response to a particular, repeated abuse, we may, again at our discretion, add it to the rules above.
What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
