What this page is

This page quotes r/AI_Music's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-06. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/AI_Music's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

A community for people who make AI music worth listening to. Share your work, hear honest feedback, and make it better.

What its rules say about promotion

7. Don't spam.
We are not here to bump your numbers. We are here to better the music. Self-promotion is allowed in the daily share posts or any community posting asking for them. Dumping the same song, channel, playlist, or link repeatedly is not. If you want people to listen to your music, give them a reason to care. If you don't listen to other people's, don't expect them to listen to you first. Posts that contribute something beyond "here's my song" are encouraged. Always look to improve.

What its rules say about AI and bots

2. AI music belongs here. So does human involvement.
Suno, Udio, DAWs, AI-assisted songwriting, AI vocals, AI instruments, traditional instruments, hybrid workflows, and everything in between are welcome. There is no minimum amount of AI required. There is no maximum amount of human involvement required. Humans can make slop. AI can make slop. The goal is to make good music.
3. Don't mistake "AI-generated" for "finished."
Raw generations, experiments, and first attempts are allowed. But don't expect the community to treat every generation as a finished masterpiece if you just pulled it from the generator. If you're posting something you've developed, tell us what you did with it. Show your work. Sharing your prompts, process, decisions, experiments, failures, and lessons learned is strongly encouraged.
5. No culture war. Debate the music, not the technology.
Posts whose primary purpose is starting fights about whether AI is inherently good, evil, theft, cheating, soulless, revolutionary, etc. may be removed. Discussion of the ethics, economics, copyright, labor implications, and technology of AI music is absolutely allowed when it is being discussed in good faith. Debate the subject. Don't turn the subreddit into a battlefield. There are other subreddits for that.
9. Keep posts relevant to AI music.
Music creation, songwriting, production, prompting, AI tools, workflows, techniques, criticism, experimentation, discovery, and related creative topics belong here. Unrelated AI news, generic memes, cryptocurrency, politics, or technology news belong elsewhere unless they have a meaningful connection to AI music.
All 10 rules of r/AI_Music
  1. 1. Be cool. Criticize the work, not the person.
Good-faith criticism is welcome. Strong opinions are welcome. Personal attacks, harassment, slurs, and targeted hostility are not. You are allowed to think someone's song sucks. You are not allowed to be an asshole about it.
  4. 4. Good-faith criticism is encouraged.
If someone asks for feedback, give them actual feedback. "This sucks" isn't useful. "The second verse repeats the first without developing the idea, and the chorus melody doesn't give the song enough contrast" is useful. Likewise, creators are encouraged to engage with criticism rather than treating every negative opinion as an attack. The goal is improvement, not validation.
  6. 6. Give credit and disclose your workflow when relevant.
Don't claim work was performed, recorded, written, or produced by a person when it wasn't. If AI was used in a significant part of the creative process, say so. Own the craft and your place in the craft. This isn't a purity test. It's context. Knowing how something was made makes it easier for other people to learn from it.
  8. 8. No scams, impersonation, plagiarism, or stolen work.
Don't pass someone else's music off as your own. Don't impersonate artists or creators. Don't use the subreddit to facilitate scams, fraud, or other illegal activity.
  9. 9. Keep posts relevant to AI music.
Music creation, songwriting, production, prompting, AI tools, workflows, techniques, criticism, experimentation, discovery, and related creative topics belong here. Unrelated AI news, generic memes, cryptocurrency, politics, or technology news belong elsewhere unless they have a meaningful connection to AI music.
  10. 10. Don't abuse the rules.
Rules exist to protect the community, not to provide loopholes for being a dick. I'm a strong defender of freedom of speech but unwarranted and unnecessary hostility will be dealt with. Moderators may remove content that clearly undermines the purpose of the community even when it technically avoids a specific rule.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
