What this page is
This page quotes r/alchemy's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-08. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/alchemy's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

What its rules say about promotion
Spam and Effort
What constitutes spam will be determined by the moderators. Use common sense: if you're uncertain as to whether or not what you want to post is spam, then it probably is. Multiple posts on the same topic within a short period of time and low-effort posts will also be encapsulated here. For the latter, try to have some content and substance to your posts: use descriptive titles, don't just post cryptic thoughts, and don't link your YouTube or Discord with no context. Please report violations.
Promote Safe Practices
Operative alchemy can be dangerous, so safe laboratory practices should be observed at all times. Do not promote unsafe activities, encourage irresponsible practices, or spread harmful misinformation. Under no circumstances should you rely on Redditors for medical advice. Always consult a licensed medical professional before using any alchemical preparations. Moderators maintain the right to remove anything that makes them uncomfortable along these lines, for any reason. Report violations.
Abide by Reddiquette
Do not: engage in or promote illegal activities, post someone's personal information, repost deleted/removed information, be intentionally rude, engage in rabble rousing, troll/harass or ask others to do the same, conduct personal attacks/insult others, engage in flame wars, abuse voting, or post misleading titles. For more information, see this: https://reddit.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/205926439-Reddiquette. Please report violations.

All 8 rules of r/alchemy
- Courtesy and Respect
Be considerate of other users, even if they rub you the wrong way or are flat-out wrong about something. What's deemed disrespectful behavior is up to the discretion of the moderators. Moreover, this sub is intended for all people interested in all kinds of alchemy, so don't attack people who have different views on what alchemy is about, and don't demonize worldviews different from your own. Disagree without insulting, be critical without aggression, and have fun without trolling. No bigotry. - Stay on Topic
Make sure that your submissions and comments are either directly about or closely related to the subject(s) of alchemy. If you post something that's clearly unrelated, it will be removed, while edge cases involving general esoteric topics will be up to moderator discretion. Virtually everything in the realm of esotericism can be related to alchemy in some way, but this sub is specifically for discussions about explicitly alchemical topics, so keep that in mind. Please report violations. - Spam and Effort

Don't post sensitive personal information like your home address or your phone number. If you want to connect with other users along those lines, do so via private messaging. Email addresses are fine. Please report violations. - Tag Images of Urine NSFW
If your alchemical exploits have you wanting to share pictures of urine with the community, then use the NSFW (Not Safe for Work) tag. Urine is the only bodily fluid/substance we allow images of. No semen, blood, saliva, mucus, earwax, feces, or anything else coming out of your or anyone else's body. Please report violations. - Abide by Reddiquette

What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
