What this page is
This page quotes r/ChaiUnofficial's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-12. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/ChaiUnofficial's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

An unofficial subreddit to discuss and share of the Chai AI chat service. This sub aims to allow open, limited moderation discussion (including criticisms of the services) that its counterpart dissalows and removes. If you need moderator support contact through mod mails.
What its rules say about promotion
Self Promotion Limited
Self promotion is only allowed on Fridays (GMT+0 timezone) and within the weekly alternative megathread. Any promotion outside of these designated times will be removed. Developers must also follow the transparency requirements outlined in the megathread.
What its rules say about AI and bots
Minimum Karma and Account Age
Accounts must have at least 20 combined karma and be at least 7 days old to post. Posts from accounts below this threshold will be automatically removed. Comments from such accounts will be manually reviewed to combat spam and bot accounts.
All 12 rules of r/ChaiUnofficial
- Blacklisted content
We do not allow posts depicting or roleplaying the following: gore, sexual assault, racism or other forms of discrimination (religious, ethnic, etc.), pedophilia, or zoophilia. Violations will result in an immediate ban. - Stay On Topic
This subreddit is for and about Chai AI. Your post must be sufficiently relevant to the scope of the subreddit. Off topic posts will be removed. - Be Civil and No Bigotry
Do not be a dick to other users. Meaningful debates and arguments are allowed, but slinging insults at other users is not helpful in any way. Harassment, personal attacks, aggressive behavior, and bigotry will not be tolerated. Bigotry includes but is not limited to sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, and xenophobia. - Flair All Posts
You must assign an appropriate post flair. Posts without flair will be removed. If you are unsure which flair to use, message the mod team. - NSFW Must Be Tagged
Any post containing NSFW content must be marked with the NSFW tag. Unmarked NSFW posts will be removed. Repeated violations may result in a ban. - Reviews Must Compare to Chai
Any review of an alternative platform must include a direct comparison to Chai AI. Reviews that do not contain a comparison to Chai are subject to removal as off topic. - Self Promotion Limited
Self promotion is only allowed on Fridays (GMT+0 timezone) and within the weekly alternative megathread. Any promotion outside of these designated times will be removed. Developers must also follow the transparency requirements outlined in the megathread. - Link Posting Caution
Links are manually reviewed by moderators. Be aware that Reddit maintains a list of banned domains, which includes Google Play Store, Apple App Store, and Telegram. Sharing these links may flag our subreddit. Post links at your own discretion. - Minimum Karma and Account Age
Accounts must have at least 20 combined karma and be at least 7 days old to post. Posts from accounts below this threshold will be automatically removed. Comments from such accounts will be manually reviewed to combat spam and bot accounts. - No Brigading or Harassment
Do not organize or participate in brigading, which includes mass downvoting or raiding other subreddits or platforms. Do not harass developers or users across different communities. Violations will result in an immediate ban. - Moderator Discretion
The mod team reserves the right to remove any post or ban any user at our discretion, particularly when behavior falls into a gray area not explicitly covered by these rules but is clearly harmful to the community. - Obey Reddit Sitewide Rules
All Reddit sitewide rules apply here. Ignorance of these rules is not an excuse. Violations will be reported to Reddit administrators and may result in a ban from this subreddit and Reddit as a whole.
What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
