What this page is

This page quotes r/cryptids's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-13. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/cryptids's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($49 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

What its rules say about AI and bots

No AI Generated Art And Text
All posts/comments featuring AI generated art, or featuring AI generated text/stories will be removed as it promotes stealing art and writing from the original artists/writers and is very low effort. No exceptions, ever. Repeated violations will result in a ban.
All 8 rules of r/cryptids
  1. No Non-Cryptid Content
Posts must be about or relating to cryptids. Posts must be about existing Cryptids. Cryptids are animals unknown to science, extinct animals being found alive, and misplaced animals. Supernatural, shapeshifting. creepypasta, mythological, creatures that come from pop culture, and paranormal/ghost creatures are not cryptids, with fearsome critters being the only exceptions to this as they are "Faux" cryptids. Or genuine posts about encounters with possible cryptozoological creatures.
  2. No Low Effort/Karma Farming Posts
Please ensure posts are positive contributions to the community.
  3. No Spam
    No repetitive posts/comments
  4. No Politics
Keep discussions focused on cryptids. Political topics are not allowed. This does include political jokes.
  5. Common Law Cryptid
If a creature is commonly referred to as a cryptid then it is welcomed in this sub. This subreddit is for the more fantastical cryptids, more grounded cryptids are allowed and encouraged but for only scientific/grounded cryptids visit r/cryptozoology. Posts or comments stating, “not a cryptid,” about a creature that is commonly referred to as a cryptid will be taken down, this includes Fearsome Critters, as they are very commonly referred to as cryptids. Repeat offenders risk being banned.
  6. No Hate
Treat others with kindness and respect. It is easy to get heated about something we are passionate about but at the end of the day this community is one that everyone should be able to enjoy. Please always be respectful to other opinions and theories, even if very outlandish always treat others with respect.
  7. No posts involving “Wendigo” or “Skinwalker”
Those terms are causing a lot of hate and fighting and are no longer going to be accepted as cryptids due to their true folklore. There are designated subs for these beings that welcome posts of authentic stories, sightings, and art. Please see r/skinwalkers for true shape shifting shaman posts. Please see r/Wendigo for anything involving the real Wendigo. The deer creature formerly referred as the Wendigo is now The Stag Man and is allowed as well.
  8. No AI Generated Art And Text
All posts/comments featuring AI generated art, or featuring AI generated text/stories will be removed as it promotes stealing art and writing from the original artists/writers and is very low effort. No exceptions, ever. Repeated violations will result in a ban.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.

Let your AI read the rules before it posts.

ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
