What this page is

This page quotes r/duckduckgo's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-07. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/duckduckgo's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

All 7 rules of r/duckduckgo
  1. Be helpful and cordial!
We like to keep the DuckDuckGo subreddit friendly, suitable for children (13+), and free of political discussion that risks leading to personal insults. We recommend /r/politics for anything related to politics. Rude, vulgar, and/or politically charged posts or replies are subject to removal and may lead to further moderation action. Thanks!
  2. Personal Information
When posting, to protect everyone's privacy please do not include personal data such as full names, email addresses or phone numbers, including your own.
  3. Do not ask about using DDG for illegal purposes or to circumvent network or services rules.
Please do not ask about using DDG products and services to engage in illegal activities. Additionally, please don't ask if DDG can be used to by-pass your school, workplace, online services, or home network restrictions. Finally, please don't ask if a network or wifi owner can monitor or log your DDG searches or browsing activities. Please refer to the DDG Help Pages for questions of this nature.
  4. Contacting DuckDuckGo

  5. Contacting the mods
Please only message the mods about Subreddit moderation, e.g. spam posts, broken links, etc. For general DuckDuckGo or privacy questions, read the FAQ in the Wiki and, if unanswered, post to the Subreddit so more people can see it and help you. Please don't ask mods for product invite codes or general questions that can be answered by the community.
  6. Duck Images
Since this is a subReddit for the discussion of the DuckDuckGo search engine and it's related apps and extension, we ask the you not use this subReddit for posting images/videos of ducks or duck related items. Instead, please use /r/duck .
  7. Duplicate Post
Your post has been removed due to it being a duplicate of a recently submitted post, either by you or another contributor.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
