What this page is

This page quotes r/experimentalmusic's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-07. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/experimentalmusic's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

A place to share all kinds of unique music. Interesting sounds from all time periods and genres are welcome.

What its rules say about promotion

Self promotion ok (+ use flair)
Self-promotion is allowed only with the self promo flair. Posts using other flairs for your own music, or low-effort/link-only posts are likely to be removed. Instead, share a bit about yourself—let the community know your story. If members or mods feel the self promotion is spammy, it may be removed. If the first click on your profile shows you ARE spamming your links everywhere, it will be removed, and you'll be banned.

What its rules say about AI and bots

Submissions can be removed if deemed unsuitable or low quality
If removed for low quality, please take this as an opportunity to resubmit your post with a greater focus on discussion/detail. Please don't post remixes, covers, AI-generated crap, link only or minimal comments, bigotry, etc.

  3. Be kind
Everyone likes what they like. It takes a lot of courage for an artist to ask for feedback. Be kind, please.
  4. "Is this experimental?" No.
If you try to get people to listen by asking if one’s music is experimental, you may get downvoted or removed. For those genuinely unclear on experimental music’s history, genres and artists, hit search on the sub and educate yourself about the sorts of experimental music out there and community views. Check the wiki for links to past discussions and explainers. Get to know the music.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
