What this page is
This page quotes r/flashlight's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-10. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/flashlight's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.
Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.
Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

What its rules say about promotion
Marketer guidelines
Marketing content from manufacturers and dealers is welcome within strict limits outlined in the [marketer policy](https://www.reddit.com/r/flashlight/wiki/index#wiki_marketer_policy). All marketers must register by modmail and receive flair before posting marketing content.
Affiliate links
Affiliate links are only allowed if clearly marked. Example: "I think the [Zebralight SC65c HI](https://www.zebralight.com/SC65c-18650-4000K-High-CRI-Flashlight_p_254.html) (affiliate link) is perfect for your requirements. Here's why:..." "Drive by" affiliate links are not permitted, and users doing this will likely be banned.
No items for sale
Post your flashlight items for sale *only* in the current r/flashlight BST thread. Another option is r/flashlight_swap or r/EDCexchange. This is for individual reselling purposes and does not apply to flashlight dealers. Flashlight dealers should adhere to the Marketer Guidelines below.
What its rules say about AI and bots
Be human - don't post AI content or run bots without mod approval
/r/flashlight is a place for humans to talk to other humans. Please don't post content generated using AI or run bots that post automatically. Exceptions may be granted for useful bots like /u/BrokenRecordBot, but talk to the mods before you put time into developing anything.
All 10 rules of r/flashlight
- Be excellent to each other
We expect people to be respectful of each other here. We remove content, and sometimes people for failing to follow this principle. - Marketer guidelines

"Shipping in progress" and purchase screenshots posts don't bring any conversation, so please wait until you have the light, then make a NLD (New Light Day) post about it. We're as excited about your new light as you are, but the light must be in your possession! - No pocket dumps
Posts on /r/flashlight should be mostly about flashlights. A photo of your flashlight, knife, fidget spinner, gun, lockpicks, handkerchief, and pocket sand is a better fit for r/EDC. - No unopened boxes
Posts consisting solely of unopened flashlight boxes aren't very interesting. - Don't delete posts that have comments
Getting comments on your post means other people have invested their time into it and it belongs to the community. Don't delete it just because you've found what you need or it's attracting downvotes. People who do this habitually may be banned at the mods' discretion. [Message the mods](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose/?to=%2Fr%2Fflashlight&subject=May+I+delete+this+post?&message=Here%20is%20a%20link:) first if you think you have a good reason to delete a post. - Be human - don't post AI content or run bots without mod approval
/r/flashlight is a place for humans to talk to other humans. Please don't post content generated using AI or run bots that post automatically. Exceptions may be granted for useful bots like /u/BrokenRecordBot, but talk to the mods before you put time into developing anything. - No politics.
No politics.
What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
Let your AI read the rules before it posts.
ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
