What its rules say about promotion

Do Not Advertise Your Game
This subreddit is not for advertising existing games. It is for posting or collaborating on ideas, not for getting new players.
All 12 rules of r/gameideas
  1. Practice Good Reddiquette
Let's make this a pleasant community for everyone. Practicing good reddiquette makes your posts much more readable. More information can be found here: https://www.reddithelp.com/en/categories/reddit-101/reddit-basics/reddiquette

  3. Use Descriptive Titles for Posts
The title of your post must be specific to your idea. Titles like, "game idea, cool idea, what do you think, etc." Will be subject to deletion. Use descriptors like genre, theme and your inspirations as the basis for your title. Readers should have a general idea of what your idea entails before opening your post. Below are a few examples of acceptable titles. [Post Title and Body Example](https://www.reddit.com/r/gameideas/wiki/example/)

  7. Be Prepared to Accept Criticism
Once you submit a post it's open for the entire world to see and critique. Some people will try to help you to make your idea better that's fine, just don't get angry if you dislike their comments. Not everyone is going to like your idea, that's fine too. If you can't learn from somebody's criticism it just might be best to not respond.
  8. Do Not Post Copies of Existing Games
You're not expected to know the details of every game ever made, but please don't post ideas that are obvious copies of popular games. Also, ideas that are similar to, "*This awesome game **BUT** with X thematic paintjob*" do not need their own post.
  9. Do Not Post Spam
Posting multiple ideas is allowed, so long as they follow posting guidelines and the ideas are unrelated. Posts that are decided to be low effort, or needlessly numerous can be removed. [R/gameideas Rules](https://www.reddit.com/r/gameideas/wiki/rules)

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
