What this page is
This page quotes r/gmgames's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-05. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/gmgames's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.
Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.
Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? What its rules say about promotion
Mature, Working Products Only (No Prototypes, No Alphas, No Betas)
Promotional posts must show a substantial, stable, tested and publicly usable product. Concepts, mockups, private prototypes, incomplete builds and posts mainly seeking unpaid testers are not accepted. Products should normally be at a genuine public 1.0 release or equivalent. A version number alone does not prove maturity.
Limit Promotional Frequency
You may share a launch, major release or substantial milestone. Do not post every decimal version, minor patch, routine changelog or repeated launch announcement. Smaller development updates must be posted in the current monthly megathread.
No Coming-Soon or Pre-Release Promotion
Do not promote trailers, teasers, announcements, countdowns, wishlists or “coming soon” products that are not yet publicly playable or available. Posts that only say a game will release next week, in the near future or at an unspecified later date will be removed. Return when the product has actually launched in a substantial, working and publicly accessible state.
Cross-Posts Must Show Effort
Cross-posts and promotional submissions must be written for the GM Games community. Explain why the product is relevant here and provide enough context for discussion. Posts that only copy marketing text, dump a link or redirect users to another thread may be removed.
No Spam or Repetitive Posting
Do not repeatedly submit the same product, link, message or substantially similar promotional content. Link dumps, repeated reposting, excessive self-promotion and behaviour that moderators consider spam may result in removal or a ban.
All 9 rules of r/gmgames
- Sports Management Games Only
Posts must relate directly to sports management, general manager, coaching, front-office or comparable career-based sports simulation games. Fantasy sports, betting, sports analytics, draft-only games, roster or lineup builders, historical-player team builders, pick-and-simulate games such as 82-0, and leagues run through Madden, EA Sports FC/FIFA or NBA 2K are outside this community’s focus. - Mature, Working Products Only (No Prototypes, No Alphas, No Betas)
- No Feature or Backlog Farming
Do not use this community mainly to collect feature ideas, market validation, research data, prompts, training material or product-backlog items. Focused feedback is allowed when attached to a mature working product that already provides clear value to the community. - Limit Promotional Frequency
You may share a launch, major release or substantial milestone. Do not post every decimal version, minor patch, routine changelog or repeated launch announcement. Smaller development updates must be posted in the current monthly megathread. - No Coming-Soon or Pre-Release Promotion
Do not promote trailers, teasers, announcements, countdowns, wishlists or “coming soon” products that are not yet publicly playable or available. Posts that only say a game will release next week, in the near future or at an unspecified later date will be removed. Cross-posts and promotional submissions must be written for the GM Games community. Explain why the product is relevant here and provide enough context for discussion. Posts that only copy marketing text, dump a link or redirect users to another thread may be removed. - No Spam or Repetitive Posting
Do not repeatedly submit the same product, link, message or substantially similar promotional content. Link dumps, repeated reposting, excessive self-promotion and behaviour that moderators consider spam may result in removal or a ban. - No Hate, Harassment or Personal Abuse
No racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, slurs, threats, harassment, personal attacks or dehumanising language. Criticise games, products and ideas without attacking people. Serious violations may result in an immediate permanent ban. - English Translation Required
Posts must be written in English or include a complete and understandable English translation. This allows moderators to assess submissions and enables the wider community to participate. Posts without an English version may be removed.
What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
