What this page is
This page quotes r/hobbycnc's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-10. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/hobbycnc's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.
Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.
Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

What its rules say about promotion
No Self-Promotion
Feel free to post cool videos or things you've stumbled upon across the web. However, as much as we all love watching Youtube videos or reading a good blog post, this isn't the place to grow your subscriber base or post advertisements moonlighting as content. This isn't an all inclusive rule; exceptions will be made for content posted by active and helpful members of our community.
Keep Sales to Pinned Thread
If you'd like to clean out the basement and offer up some spare parts (CNC related of course) for sale, feel free to post them in the stickied "For Sale" posts. Just remember to keep it to personal items; this is not for commercial use.
No Advertising
Please don't fill our sub with advertisements. This includes your CNC Products and Kickstarters.
Disclose Your Affiliation (if any) With Your Recommendation.
If you recommend anything (instructional material, parts, electronics, machines, etc) in your replies or your posts, that you are affiliated with (creator, employee, etc), you must disclose your affiliation in the same post/reply. As mentioned in Rule 4, we do make exceptions occassionally with regards to self promotion, but any self promotion must be included with a disclosure that you are affiliated with it.
What its rules say about AI and bots
No using AI/LLM output in comments or posts
Your comments/posts must be your own creation. Neither the mods, nor the users care if your grammar or spelling is not perfect. If any user is found to be pasting the output from an AI chatbot into the comments here, the comment will be deleted immediately. Subsequent submissions will invite a 1 month ban, and then permanent. Trying to help someone by posing a question to a chatbot, then posting the response here is not allowed.
All 8 rules of r/hobbycnc
- No Bullying or Personal Attacks
It's nice to share in our successes, collectively learn from each others' failures, be able to ask for help and provide helpful advice. Just remember to keep the language PG, be nice to each other, and like your Momma told you, "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." If your typing is getting louder, maybe reread before submitting. - Keep it CNC Related
There are many subreddits, but this is ours. You're free to post about anything your heart desires in our sub; as long as it's CNC related. - Include Top-Level Comment with Image/Link Posts
Details are what make your post worth "reading" and paint the mental picture for the rest of us. When asking for advice make sure to give as many details as possible about your setup and the issues you are facing. It helps everyone to help you with a solution. If you are posting an image or link, please include a top-level comment with all the great details for everyone to read. - No Self-Promotion

What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
Let your AI read the rules before it posts.
ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
