What its rules say about promotion

"New tool" posts must be in the weekly thread for the topic
When sharing a new tool, UI, plugin, or framework related to Kubernetes, you must post it as a comment in the weekly "Show off your new tools and projects" thread. Such posts outside of that thread will be removed.
No spam
This includes obvious links to commercial products, gratuitous reposts, advertisements, and overall useless blech (at mods' discretion).
Posts affiliated with commercial products must clearly state their affiliation
Posts and comments that are affiliated with commercial products or companies must be transparent about their affiliation (in the subject or body). This includes: * Employees or contractors * Founders or maintainers * Investors or marketers * Anyone with a financial or promotional interest Your post should: * Provide value independent of the product * Share honest insights, challenges, or learnings * Avoid “problem/solution” setups where your product is always the answer
No selling
This includes things that might seem relevant, like fun stickers and shirts. Sadly, if we allow it a little, it will be abused. Posts or comments with links to sales sites will be removed.

  2. What kind of posts do we want?
    We want things that are interesting to the broad base of Kubernetes users and the Cloud Native ecosystem, and which will foster discussions here in the sub. Link posts are OK, as long as they have a good description. Ask and answer questions! Talking about AI is OK, as long as it is related to k8s. Talk about or link to articles about how you use k8s, successfully or otherwise. These guidelines will evolve over time.
  3. Put some effort into it
    Low effort posts may be removed. This includes: * Articles that provide little unique insight or rehash generic advice (“10 Tips ...”) * Blogspam - posts with phrases like “I wrote an article on…” or “Check out my blog…” * AI-generated content with low originality * Phony feeling "what are your thoughts on..." posts If you want to link to an article, blog, or video, make sure it's something people will want to discuss and comment on _here_. AI listicles will be removed with prejudice.
  4. Link posts need a description
    If you want to post a link to an article or blog or video, make sure your post includes useful information about the link - at least "what is the topic", and "who might find value in it". If you have to use a text post, that is OK. Posts that are clearly just farming clicks will be removed.
  5. Don't post job openings, resumes, or job-seeking
    We have a monthly "who's hiring" thread for job postings. Any such post or comment will be removed and banned at mods' discretion.
  6. "New tool" posts must be in the weekly thread for the topic
    When sharing a new tool, UI, plugin, or framework related to Kubernetes, you must post it as a comment in the weekly "Show off your new tools and projects" thread. Such posts outside of that thread will be removed.
  7. No certification discussions
    Congrats on passing your CKA. We're proud of you, really. Likewise, we are sorry it was hard, or that the tool crashed, or that you find it worthless. That said, this sub was once overrun with posts about certifications. Posts that are primarily about certification may be removed.
  8. Use LLM-generated content sparingly
    Don't post obviously AI-generated articles or comments. Using LLMs as a starting point is fine, but it's fairly obvious when a post is just a naked LLM response. AI posts and comments may be removed at mods' discretion.
  9. No pay-walled links
    Links to pay-walled sites, even free-login-required, are not allowed.
  10. No more "how do I get started?" posts
    There are dozens of threads which have already explored the topic of how to learn kubernetes.

  14. Avoid re-posting links for at least a month
    In order to keep r/kubernetes fresh, we ask that links not be re-posted for at least a month.
  15. Be respectful posting OSS projects
    This is not a forum for announcing every update to every barely-kubernetes-adjacent OSS project. That way lies madness. Please consider how kube-relevant your project is and how big the audience for it is before posting, and do not post about it too frequently. New project announcements which are obviously just three LLM prompts in a trenchcoat may be removed at mods' discretion. And remember new project announcements must be in the weekly thread.
