- its rules on Reddit
This community is for those who play, create, and bring awareness to those who love local multiplayer games—which are video games that are played on one system (console or computer) among multiple players, either single or split-screen.
What its rules say about promotion
Game Development
Posts about game development, that don't directly involve player feedback or engagement should be directed to the relevant dev subreddits eg r/indiedev. Examples are coding advice, graphic design or 'relatable' dev memes etc. General game promotions like trailers, play tests or feature feedback requests are still fine.
Limit Self-Promotion
While self-promotion is actually encouraged in this subreddit, please limit posting about an upcoming or newly released project or video to every other week at the most. And this is an unwritten rule of subreddit and life, but if your promotional content is receiving zero or next-to-zero positive engagement, you are expected to read the room and limit such posts in the future accordingly.
Let's Play Posts Should Serve the Community
Let's Play videos should be informative—either effectively demonstrating a game or reviewing it— with the intent of spreading awareness of a game rather than repeated awareness of your channel. While there's no hard-and-fast indicator to differentiate intent, community spam reports and a sniff test by the moderators will determine whether Let's Play posts are valuable to the community.
All 9 rules of r/localmultiplayergames

If a post relates to multiple kinds of play, local multiplayer must be the central focus. - Game Recommendations
Posts seeking game recommendations should be high quality and include things like: The approximate number of people you want to play with. Genres of games you're interested in. Skill levels of players. The platform you're on. - Game Development

Discussion of illegally downloading and/or cracking games or software is strictly prohibited. You will receive two strikes before being banned from the community if you violate this rule. - Finding Lost Games
r/tipofmyjoystick style posts (trying to find the name of a game you've forgotten) should be directed to that sub first. We will allow posts here if you've already tried the main sub and have been unsuccessful after a few days. Posts should have a high quality/ best effort description and be related to local multiplayer. - NSFW Games
In an effort to keep this sub friendly for all ages, NSFW local multiplayer games will not be allowed to be posted, discussed, or recommended.
What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
