What its rules say about promotion

Self-promotion is limited to once-daily.
When self-promoting content, please provide as much meaningful information as possible, such as a detailed description, trailers, or screenshots. It is also required to properly format posts. Approved posters can arrange for more daily posts by contacting the moderators.
All 5 rules of r/macgaming
  1. If you are asking for advice on games or your system, post the specs of your Mac.
Your Mac provides several tools to help you identify it. The simplest is [About This Mac](https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201581), available by choosing *About This Mac* from the Apple menu in the upper-left corner of your screen.
  2. Read the FAQ, and refer users to it if applicable.
The [FAQ](https://www.reddit.com/r/macgaming/wiki/faq) is part of our wiki. Also, our menu at the top left includes a shortcut to it.
  3. No enabling or linking to piracy.
  4. Self-promotion is limited to once-daily.
When self-promoting content, please provide as much meaningful information as possible, such as a detailed description, trailers, or screenshots. It is also required to properly format posts. Approved posters can arrange for more daily posts by contacting the moderators.
  5. Search before posting for a specific game; individual games are limited to 1 thread per 48 hours.
Popular games could otherwise end up with multiple threads, especially considering the Game Porting Toolkit. Please report threads that are less relevant or otherwise are not informative regarding the game in question.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
