What this page is

This page quotes r/Mahjong's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-12. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/Mahjong's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($49 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

What its rules say about promotion

Promotional Post Policy
Promotional posts must seek moderator permission beforehand. Unauthorised promotional posts will be removed. At most one promotional post per 3 months is allowed (subject to moderator discretion). Posts and comments advertising gambling with real money (e.g. any method of gameplay where players can lose money and can win money) will not be permitted.

What its rules say about AI and bots

Useless bot
We do not allow any bot whose post actions are of no use to this subreddit. These will be banned immediately.
Generative AI must be disclosed
Due to a recent flood of posts involving generative AI, as well as a rise in AI-generated scams and misinformation, all uses of generative AI must be disclosed as such. This includes AI-generated images, AI-generated text, and websites with AI-generated layout.
All 11 rules of r/Mahjong
  1. Be Nice
Mahjong players are expected to be nice to each other, or else we run into a toxic environment.
  2. No Mahjong Solitaire
This subreddit is dedicated to the actual game of mahjong (i.e. the tile-based rummy-family game). All multiplayer variants are welcome; however, mahjong solitaire is not.
  4. Spam
Do not create multiple posts and threads with no substance or content, or multiple repeated posts/threads across Reddit.
  5. Copyright
We do not allow requests and postings looking to circumvent copyright. Note that works in the public domain in the US are permitted.
  6. Useless bot
We do not allow any bot whose post actions are of no use to this subreddit. These will be banned immediately.
  7. Ban evasion
Do not create new accounts to evade a previous ban.
  8. No Belligerence
Hostile and aggressive behavior will not be tolerated.
  9. Vulgarity
Basically, an extension to "Be Nice". Just watch your language. We're trying to stay clean here.
  10. Quality Standard
Coded projects must surpass a level of quality. Low quality projects simply waste people's time and attention.
  11. Generative AI must be disclosed
Due to a recent flood of posts involving generative AI, as well as a rise in AI-generated scams and misinformation, all uses of generative AI must be disclosed as such. This includes AI-generated images, AI-generated text, and websites with AI-generated layout.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.

Let your AI read the rules before it posts.

ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
