What its rules say about promotion
Avoid self-promotion/advertising

Posts looking for servers is not permitted. Charity/Donation promotions must be *pre-approved* by a moderator before posting.

Help posts are OK, however if it's found to be a mod bug, please make sure to pass the bug on to the author for correction. If posting a game or crash log *do not* paste the log into your post. Use a site such as http://www.pastebin.com and share the link. - Inlcude Mod Lists
Whenever relevant, include a mod list in your post so others can help you more effectively. Without this information, it’s difficult to answer questions related to your client.
What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
