Advertising
Advertising - including but not limited to pet-related products/services, apps/websites, beta testing opportunities, market research and surveys or questionnaires of any kind - is permitted in the designated advertising megathread only. You will find it at the top of the subreddit page in the "highlights" section. Posts that appear mass-produced or intended to boost visibility for specific companies or services rather than genuine user discussion are considered advertising and will be removed.
Self-promotion
Linking to your own blogs, sites, or videos is not allowed. Affiliate marketing is not allowed.
No private-party adoption solicitations
Private-party solicitations to buy, sell or otherwise transfer ownership of a pet are prohibited.

  1. Reddiquette
    Posts and comments that are rude, vulgar, harassing, advocating for cruel actions, off-topic and/or are not contributing positively to the discussion will not be tolerated. Do not instigate users who are breaking the rules. Please report them instead.
  2. Animal Cruelty
    Advocating for and/or encouraging animal cruelty will not be tolerated. This includes but is not limited to encouraging contributors to perform non-medical euthanasia or offering animals as bait.
  3. Begging
    Asking for financial assistance, votes, or signatures is not allowed. Please try /r/assistance.
  4. Advertising

  5. Avoiding defamation
    Companies are fighting harder than ever to silence negative reviews. Avoid having your review removed by focusing on what you personally experienced or felt without making unproven accusations. Strong opinions and candid observations are allowed, but should be labeled accordingly. Avoid using words like “fraud”, “scam”, “liar” or “illegal”. For example, instead of “They scammed me out of $500,” you might say “I felt cheated out of $500.”
  6. Self-promotion
    Linking to your own blogs, sites, or videos is not allowed. Affiliate marketing is not allowed.
  7. Memorial
    We are sorry for your loss, but we do not allow notices of a dying pet or post about a pet that has passed on. Asking how to deal with the death of a pet is also not allowed. Please post these in /r/petloss.
  8. Ego Photo
    Posting photos of pets 'just to share' are better posted in /r/aww, or a subreddit dedicated to the species or breed.
  9. Meme
    Strictly No Memes. Head over to /r/adviceanimals.
  10. Do not abuse the report button
    The report button should only be used to report rule violations or incivility. The moderators do not referee differences of opinion. Repeated report abuse will result in disciplinary action.
  11. No private-party adoption solicitations
    Private-party solicitations to buy, sell or otherwise transfer ownership of a pet are prohibited.
  12. There is no substitute for veterinary care
    Advice obtained here should never substitute a veterinary exam.
