- Research before posting
Don't ask questions that Google search, ChatGPT, Wikipedia, or Google Translate give good answers to. Look back at recent posts in the subreddit to see if your question was already answered recently. If you already consulted those resources and want to post anyway, make it clear that you researched and say why the results didn't work for you. - No content that resembles AI-generated slop
Don't post content that looks like AI output, regardless of whether it is or not. If people in the subreddit think your post was created by AI, it will be deleted. Avoid silly emojis and typical AI-output clichés. If you used AI to help you create your post, disclose that. In this subreddit, no form of Spanish is better than another. Posts and comments containing language elitism will be deleted. - The scope of this subreddit is global. Act accordingly.
For example, people outside the United States do not know what "AP Spanish" is. In general, terms for the educational process vary widely from one country to another. Inform yourself before posting. If you are not of Hispanic origin and want to say that in your post, first ask whether it is really necessary for a global audience. If it is necessary to say, phrasing that as "I'm not Hispanic" is a better approach than "I am white." Racial and ethnic categories travel very poorly. - Don't ask for guidance on what dialect of Spanish to learn.
This type of posting is considered low-quality participation because beginners worry about dialect differences too much. Just get started. The Spanish of Spain and the Spanish of the Americas are mutually intelligible. Find a tutor you like and Spanish content that interests you.
