Where can I promote
indie games on Reddit?

Match the format to the game: a solo development showcase, a store page or a directly playable browser game.

Post with conditions

Only for game showcases made by solo developers.

Rule: Don't overpost. Post 2 times per week.

Don't overpost your content. Choose your best work and share 2 times per week to give people a chance to digest what you're sharing. This also allows others to shine through. Sharing your project is fine if you add context or insights. Repetitive or uninformative spam content may be removed.

How to use this route: Share at most twice per week and add context or development insights. Teams must not present themselves as solo developers. Repetitive or uninformative promotion may be removed.

r/WebGames

Post with conditions

Only for games playable directly in a standard web browser.

Rule: P4. Posts Must be Direct Links to Single WebGames

i. This shouldn't need to be said, but the link must be to a *web*game playable in a web browser. ii. The post must link as directly to the game as possible - this is for the convenience of users to access a game with as less clicks a possible. iii. The link must not lead to collections or directories. Just pick one and link the others in the comments. iv. The link must be somewhat permanent. This means that Dropbox links are not allowed.

Rule: P2: Wait Three Months to Repost a Game

Posting a game that has already been posted in the last three months is not allowed. Please search for the name of the game and its URL before submitting to ensure you do not violate this rule. Games with substantial updates since last posting are an exception - please let the moderators know that this is the case before submitting a game.

How to use this route: Link directly to one playable browser game, with the game’s name at the start of the title. No downloads, game directories, referral links or non-standard device requirements. Check for earlier submissions: normally wait three months before reposting. Follow the sign-up restrictions in rule P5. Your account must be at least seven days old and have at least 10 comment karma. Political games must meet the sidebar’s additional restrictions.
