What this page is
This page quotes r/spacesimgames's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-06. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/spacesimgames's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.
Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.
Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

This is an umbrella for all space sim related games. Anything from Orbiter to Dark Star One and anything in between is fair game.
What its rules say about promotion
No Spam or Low-Effort posts
We want quality content on the feed. Your post will be removed if it falls into any of these: - Spam & Clutter: No affiliate links, referral codes, or redundant reposts. - Contextless Media: Don't just dump a screenshot or video and run. You must include a short description in the comments explaining what we are looking at. - AI Slop: No pure AI-generated concept art, game pitches, or text dumps. If its low effort, don't post it. - Flair use: Assign the appropriate flare in your posts
Self-Promotion Limitations
Are you a developer? Awesome! You are welcome here, as long as you: - Post promotional content once every 7 days. - Follow the "Dev Promo Checklist" rules. - Don't just to self promote, engage with the community! - Is your game "space as a setting/theme" than a "space sim"? Reserve your post for the weekly "Spaced Out Fridays" promo day (UTC time zone applies).
Dev Promo Checklist
If you are a developer posting promotional content, your post must include: - The Promotion flare. - The games name in the title. - Actual gameplay screenshots or video. - State the current stage of development. - Give a clear description of what the game is about. - Ask the community for specific feedback. - Engage with those who comment on your thread.

All 4 rules of r/spacesimgames
- Don't be a PoS
Keep it civil. Constructive criticism about space sims are completely fine, but being unreasonably rude, insulting, or intentionally hurtful to other users will get your post removed and earn you a ban. Debate the game, not the person. - No Spam or Low-Effort posts

What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
