What this page is

This page quotes r/StartInBelgium's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-12. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/StartInBelgium's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

A community for people building companies in Belgium. Meet founders and future founders, find cofounders, share what you're building, ask for help, learn from each other's f*ckups and connect through small in-person meetups. From bootstrapped projects to venture-backed startups, what matters is that you're building something and willing to contribute. No corporate self-promotion. No political debates. No bullshit networking.

What its rules say about promotion

No drive-by self-promotion
Don’t drop your startup, agency, newsletter, event, course or service and leave. Disclose your involvement and start a genuine discussion. When sharing something you built, explain what it is, why it matters and what feedback you want.
All 12 rules of r/StartInBelgium
  1. English only
Keep the community accessible to foun
  2. Build in Belgium
Posts should have a meaningful connection to building a company, product or startup in Belgium.
  3. Use the right flair
Use the most relevant flair for every post. Misleading flairs may be changed or removed by moderators.
  4. Critique ideas, not people
Direct feedback and disagreement are welcome. Personal attacks, harassment and toxic behaviour are not.
  5. No drive-by self-promotion
Don’t drop your startup, agency, newsletter, event, course or service and leave. Disclose your involvement and start a genuine discussion. When sharing something you built, explain what it is, why it matters and what feedback you want.
  6. Cofounder posts must be specific
Explain what you are building, its stage, what you bring, who you are looking for, location, expected commitment and the equity or compensation situation. “DM me for details” is not enough. A cofounder is not a free employee.
  7. Ask better questions
Do not simply ask “Is my idea good?”. Explain your context, assumptions, what you are trying to validate, what you tried and where you need help.
  8. Low-effort posts may be removed
Give enough context for people to provide useful answers. Generic questions easily answered with a basic search do not create useful community discussions.
  9. Contribute back
If people take the time to help you, engage with the responses. This is a community, not free consulting.
  10. No survey dumping
Do not drop external surveys, Typeforms or Google Forms and leave. Whenever possible, ask your questions directly in the post so the discussion benefits everyone.
  11. Meetups must be concrete
Meetups are encouraged. Include the city, date and time, purpose or format, organiser and RSVP instructions.
  12. No scams or misleading opportunities
Fraudulent investment opportunities, misleading job or equity offers, pyramid schemes and intentionally deceptive posts will be removed and may result in a permanent ban.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
