Can you promote on r/survivorslikes?

What this page is

This page quotes r/survivorslikes's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-12. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/survivorslikes's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($49 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

Welcome! "Survivors-like" is a portmanteau of "Survivor" and "Roguelike". This is a new fan run community for fans to discuss and devs to share updates! Your indie games are your art, please share them with us. Promoting and getting ongoing feedback on your game is OK here! Incremental content updates, crossposting and sale posts are OK! Discussing related genres is OK! Part of the goal is to cut down on it in other subs while keeping gamers who love patch notes happy too. Survive on, dudes!

All 9 rules of r/survivorslikes
  1. No NSFW content (Linking game with warning is ok)
While some survivors-likes are NSFW, please mark links to them as NSFW when linking and keep all content posted here SFW so we can avoid reddit censoring the subreddit.
  2. Feel free to share gameplay videos, screenshots, guides, memes or other content you've made!
It's totally fine to share your latest video, playthrough, stream clip, or high score screenshot. Memes are fine, as are most "low effort" posts. People will downvote if it's low quality. We'll revisit this rule if we need to, but for now post away!
  3. Sales and incremental update posts are allowed! Let us know about your latest character or weapon.
Don't spam multiple times a day, but if you added one character yesterday and a new weapon tomorrow, feel free to let us know. We love that this genre gets constant updates and want to encourage devs adding features to engage with the community.
  4. Bored of a game being mentioned? Use downvotes and leave comments saying so instead of reporting.
We want to encourage constant updates and have a forum for fans to discuss the latest changes. If you don't like a game, feel free to downvote the post and say so. Otherwise, give constructive feedback. This is a chatroom for people who love constant updates. Be polite.
  5. Be polite and constructive! Especially directly to devs.
You can say you think a game sucks. Don't tell a dev they suck. You can say you hate how updates are constant but weapons aren't really new. Don't report it. Just try not to be toxic. This is a great genre for new devs to learn about game design. Be supportive and particular with your feedback.
  6. Not all games are AAA games. Support student and learning devs, even if the attempts suck.
This is a great subgenre for students and self taught devs to learn how to make a game. Sometimes they will make a really really fun game - but not without some shitty first attempts and useful feedback. Keep this in mind, though it's fine to give feedback that a game is overpriced or shouldn't be available for sale yet.
  7. Tip for Devs: Make learning projects & tiny experiments free to avoid angry 'shovelware' reviews!
While it's a great genre for your first game, you are competing with amazingly crafted games that are available for free and genre giants are almost always priced at 4.99. You'll get better feedback if you list your game for free while you want feedback, if it's full of bugs or basically a joke. We don't endorse harassing devs, but this is the top cause of anger. Buggy janky free games get a lot of love and eventually sometimes profit. Steam prefers you do a Free version under EA vs. "prologue".
  8. Non-rogue-lite games welcome! Have a wave survival game? Auto shooter? You can post about it here!
We broadly welcome any related games. As the genre evolves not every movement focused horde survival game will be a rogue-lite. Not every one will be a bullet heaven. Some older wave survival games could be considered survivors-likes! We want to hear about your tower defense hybrid or horde shooter! See more notes about genres and terms you might hear below. Let's let the genre evolve and have fun! Survive on, dudes!
  9. Feel free to customize flair, but if you're a dev please leave it on.
See full flair rules below in the sidebar! Devs please stay marked as such for transparency <3

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
