What this page is

This page quotes r/TechStartups's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-05. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/TechStartups's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

What its rules say about promotion

Keep It Real - No Spam or Self-Promotion
This subreddit is for discussion, not for dumping links or promoting your product. You can mention what you’re building only if it’s relevant to a topic or you’re asking for feedback the right way.
Ask for Feedback the Right Way
If you’re sharing your startup, explain what you want feedback on (UX, growth, problem validation, etc.). Don’t just drop a link and disappear.

What its rules say about AI and bots

Share Value, Not Hype
Post things that help others learn, insights, lessons, questions, and news worth discussing. No generic AI spam, no “Top 10” content farm posts.
All 11 rules of r/TechStartups
  1. Keep It Real - No Spam or Self-Promotion
This subreddit is for discussion, not for dumping links or promoting your product. You can mention what you’re building only if it’s relevant to a topic or you’re asking for feedback the right way.
  2. Respect Builders and Ideas
We’re here to help each other grow. Give honest, constructive feedback, not harsh takedowns. No insults, personal attacks, or gatekeeping.
  3. Share Value, Not Hype
Post things that help others learn, insights, lessons, questions, and news worth discussing. No generic AI spam, no “Top 10” content farm posts.
  4. Ask for Feedback the Right Way
If you’re sharing your startup, explain what you want feedback on (UX, growth, problem validation, etc.). Don’t just drop a link and disappear.
  5. Stay On-Topic
Conversations should center around startups, building tech products, funding, growth, design, tools, or emerging tech trends. Off-topic memes, politics, or unrelated content will be removed.
  6. Posting Requirements
To reduce spam and low-effort posts, users must have at least 50 combined karma and an account older than 7 days to post. New members are encouraged to join discussions in comments first — once you reach the threshold, you’ll automatically be able to post.
  7. No Low-Effort Posts or Clickbait Titles
We’re curating signal, not noise. If it looks like you didn’t read your own post twice before hitting submit, it’s getting deleted.
  8. Protect Confidentiality & IP
If someone shares an idea, treat it with respect. Don’t steal or copy projects. Discuss, inspire, and collaborate, not exploit.
  9. Keep It Helpful
If you comment, add something meaningful: an insight, suggestion, or real experience. “Cool idea bro” doesn’t help anyone.
  10. Report Spam and Low-Quality Posts
Help keep the community strong. Use the report button if something feels off.
  11. Have Fun & Build
This space exists for curious, driven people who love creating. Be open, helpful, and remember, you never know who you might meet here.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
