What this page is
This page quotes r/UIUC's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-12. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/UIUC's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.
Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.
Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? - its rules on Reddit
This subreddit is for anything related to UIUC. Students, alumni, faculty, staff, and community members are all welcome. Since there isn’t a major regional subreddit, this community also covers a lot of Champaign-Urbana topics. This subreddit is not sponsored, affiliated with, or endorsed by the University of Illinois or any other campus organization.
What its rules say about promotion
Sales, ads, voting, etc.
You're free to beg for facebook votes, advertise your UIUC-related web service, etc. Except: * No Throwaways: Do it from your main account, one with history on /r/UIUC. * No SPAM: You may never, ever post an ad for the same thing twice. If you feel the need to, message the moderators and ask permission. * Details: All the required details of your post must be included. The moderators can and will remove your post (and inform you) for being way to vague.
Illegal activities
Members of the police read this subreddit and readers may take it upon themselves to report things to them. Please, don't get in trouble. * Don't buy/sell drugs on this subreddit. * Don't post asking for someone of age to buy you alcohol. * You're free to discuss things like visiting the steam tunnels or accessing the roofs of buildings on campus. But please remember that the University takes these things *very seriously* and you can get in a lot of trouble if they figure out who you are.
What its rules say about AI and bots

The moderators try their best to be 'hands-off' and let the subreddit govern itself. - AI-generated content

What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
Let your AI read the rules before it posts.
ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
