What this page is
This page quotes r/visitingnyc's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-10. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/visitingnyc's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.
Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.
Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? - Do a search before posting.
Please read the FAQ, pinned posts and megathreads. You can also search by clicking on a flair (for example, Itinerary Check) and you'll see every post with that flair. It's a fast & easy way to search for the info. Read the comments as well, not just the posts. Mods have the last word on removals & bans. - Repetitive & Vague Posts Will Be Deleted.
This includes questions about the weather, what to wear, how to use the subway, where to stay, etc. There are FAQ's and megathreads to help you plan your visit to NYC. Use them. - Hotel & Accommodations Questions
All hotel questions need to go into the mega thread. Please read the pinned post. We are NOT going to do the heavy lifting for you. Mods have the last word on removals and bans. - Transit Questions

Don't be rude. Have some manners. We are real people, just taking some time to try and help you have a good trip. And if you feel the need to troll, get a life. Also mods have the last word on removals and bans. - Food Questions
Please re-direct your questions related to food over to r/foodnyc. - Visiting NYC Questions Only
This is a sub about visiting NYC. - Removals & Bans
Post/comment removals and bans are at the complete discretion of the mods. You might want to take a moment to think on why you're post/comment was removed and consider actually putting some effort into your next post.
What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
Let your AI read the rules before it posts.
ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
