What this page is
This page quotes r/watchrepair's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-12. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/watchrepair's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.
Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.
Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($49 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

What its rules say about promotion
Rule 5: No Buying, Selling, or Soliciting

Rule 8: No Spam
No repeated self-promotion of channels, blogs, link dumps, or other content.
What its rules say about AI and bots
Rule 9: No AI
No AI-generated posts or answers. The use of AI for translation or explanation of technical issues is at the discretion of the moderation team.
All 9 rules of r/watchrepair
- Rule 1: Be Civil, Be Constructive
Beginners are welcome here. Critique the work, not the person. No insults, gatekeeping, or mocking someone's watch, tools, or skill level. - Rule 2: We Are A Watch Repair Community
Posts should concern repair, servicing, restoration, tools, or technique. General watch photos, collection shots, and purchase advice belong in other subs. - Rule 3: Details Details Details
Include clear, in-focus photos, the make and caliber if known, what the watch is doing, and what you've already tried. "Why won't it run?" with one blurry photo can't be answered and may be removed. - Rule 4: We Are Not A Valuation or Authentication Resource
"What's it worth?" and "Is this real?" posts will be removed. Identifying a movement or part for the purpose of repairing it is fine. - Rule 5: No Buying, Selling, or Soliciting
No sales listings, trade offers, or advertising of repair services. Recommending a watchmaker in reply to someone who asks is fine; unsolicited promotion is not. - Rule 6: No Help With Counterfeits
No assistance making or passing off fakes, or presenting redials and assembled watches as original for sale. - Rule 7: Flag Hazards And Give Safe Advice
Mark posts involving radium lume, and don't recommend practices that put people at risk (dry-scraping lume, unsafe solvent use, and so on). - Rule 8: No Spam
No repeated self-promotion of channels, blogs, link dumps, or other content. - Rule 9: No AI
No AI-generated posts or answers. The use of AI for translation or explanation of technical issues is at the discretion of the moderation team.
What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
Let your AI read the rules before it posts.
ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
