What this page is

This page quotes r/WeirdSideProjects's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-07. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/WeirdSideProjects's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? A community for weird and unconventional side projects. Share what you're building and discover unique ideas

What its rules say about promotion

No spam or excessive self-promotion
You're welcome to share your own side projects, but don't use the subreddit only to advertise. Participate in discussions and avoid repetitive promotional posts.
No scams of misleading contents
Do not post fake projects, deceptive claims, referral schemes, or anything intended to mislead or exploit other users.
All 5 rules of r/WeirdSideProjects
  1. Stay on Topic
Posts should be about unusual, creative, or unconventional side projects. Whether it's software, hardware, art, experiments, websites, AI, or something completely different, it should focus on a side project you're building or discovered.
  2. Share real projects
Low-effort ideas with no context may be removed. If you're sharing a project, include enough information for others to understand what it is, why you made it, or what makes it interesting.
  3. Be respectful
Treat others with respect. Personal attacks, harassment, hate speech, or toxic behavior are not allowed.
  4. No spam or excessive self-promotion
You're welcome to share your own side projects, but don't use the subreddit only to advertise. Participate in discussions and avoid repetitive promotional posts.
  5. No scams of misleading contents
Do not post fake projects, deceptive claims, referral schemes, or anything intended to mislead or exploit other users.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
