Failure to do so will result in a PERMANENT ban. - Makeup on MONDAY ONLY
There are plenty of places to share your makeup looks, such as r/blackladies r/MakeupAddiction r/makeup r/makeuptips. Makeup is a beautiful and valid art form! However, we will be limiting the frequency of these types of blogs by allowing them to be posted on Mondays only. This is only a precautionary rule to prevent people from exploiting makeup posts as a way to generate karma and then have blogs completely unrelated to BLACK artwork. This is not a makeup page, of which there are many diverse - Black artwork only
Please ensure that any artwork involving people has some aspect of black motifs or iconography, because this is a space primarily for blackartwork. Rule of thumb: if there is people, there should be indications of the black culture. This rule does not apply to abstract, landscape, still life, optical illusion, decorative, calligraphic, architectural, or surreal art. - Not artwork of any kind
Posts that includes anatomical photos (i.e face or body) interior designs, locations or discovery sites will be removed immediately. Adding a filter to these photos does not mean it is genuine art. You have to do something with these photos, like use them as references. If these photos are used as references, they must be included AFTER the art is shown (should be the second slide in the post) This rule will be enforced as to prevent low effort karma farming posts. - Derogatory, mean, racist, and hateful artwork is not allowed
This rule is context and frequency dependent. Artwork that depicts a certain people, culture, religion, in a derogatory and offensive way is not allowed. There is a distinction between criticism and being openly hateful. Expressing trauma through art can be healing, so please don’t let this rule scare you! This is to prevent obvious bigotry and hateful platitudes. Sharing artwork that breaks this rule will result in being muted for a week, the second time will be a ban. - Remember to give proper citations to artwork that is not your own
If the artwork is not originally created by you, then make sure that you include the artists name, name of the art piece, and or a link to the original art work. Failing to do so will result in the posts removal. - Artistic Dishonesty
Using reference photo(s) that look identical to the original piece without crediting the reference photo(s) will not be tolerated and is an automatic ban. Taking reference photos and placing filters on top of them or putting them through image stylization programs is also not allowed. We do not recognize these types of posts as authentic art but what they actually are; plagiarism and AI abuse. - Impersonation
Impersonating as another artist is not allowed and is and automatic ban.
What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
