What this page is

This page quotes r/cozygames's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-11. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/cozygames's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($49 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

What its rules say about promotion

Don't over-promote
We would love to discover new cozy things, but too much can overrun the subreddit. Roughly speaking: - please avoid promoting a cozy game more than once every 2 weeks (post more minor updates in the game development subreddits), - if you are want to share a related thing to cozy games (eg: channel, shop), please first participate in the community and keep it to at most once a month, - re-posting same or very similar content - sharing changes too small (eg minor character design change)

What its rules say about AI and bots

Don't deceive
Do not trick players by posting about a game or cozy-related thing and pretending you are not involved in the creation of that thing. Likewise, do not lie about your use of AI - if you are challenged on it and deny it, yet it is clear that you are using generative technologies, your post will be removed for deception.
All 6 rules of r/cozygames
  1. Games must be cozy!
Any posts must be related to cozy games or ask for their recommendations. In general, a game can be considered cozy if it meets the following: - is relaxing to play and has little time pressure or harsh penalties, - has comforting graphics that are either cute or use warm colours, - is mostly peaceful with none or low violence. Other terms, themes, and mechanics that can be cozy: cottagecore, friendly, farming, relationships, adventuring, crafting, and especially decorating.
  2. Games must be substantial
We don't get a lot of posts here, and so in the posts we do get, we're looking for developers that take the craft seriously and have spent a lot of time (at least months) on their game. Simple or minimalist games that technically fit the cozy genre (such as match-3 or fill-in-the-blank), or that can be made with a few AI prompts, unfortunately crowd out these passionate gems. Think games like Stardew Valley (took a few years) or Librarian: Tidy up the arcane library (took at least a few months).
  5. Don't be too technical
This is a sub primarily oriented for gamers, so very development-technical questions such as asking about specifics on your art style are a bit out of scope here. If you are showing full game footage and are asking for important changes, then it can be okay, but small changes or screenshots too early in the development process would be a better fit in places like r/IndieDev or r/gamedevscreens.
  6. Tidy-up and desktop companion game posts only once and when released
Due to these genres being trendy and easier to make than your classic farm sims and adventure games, there have also been a disproportionate number of these flooding the sub, overwhelming other game genres. We are trialling a new rule where we will limit these particular games to one post per game, and this must be after the game is released. Fortunately, for the first genre, there is a dedicated sub r/TidyUpGames you can try! ATM, the rule applies to developers only, players can share normally.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
