What this page is

This page quotes r/cscareers's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-10. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/cscareers's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

What its rules say about AI and bots

Ask questions, be constructive, give actionable advice!
Comments should be detailed, information driven, *authentic (not AI)* and include action-oriented advice to best aide the OP and readers in finding their path. Ask clarifying questions to get deeper information and assume ignorance over malice. Polite disagreement is welcome. Personal attacks, hostility, ridicule, and contempt are not.
AI Use Is Forbidden (in posts or comments)
This shouldn't have to even be a rule, but here we are. We are not interested in reading an AI's version of whatever you'd like to share.
All 7 rules of r/cscareers
  1. Support, respect, and kindness are the Modus Operandi here!
Comments should be supportive, kind, helpful, actionable, and targeted to people's needs. Regardless of the poster's situation or language used.
  2. Ask questions, be constructive, give actionable advice!

  3. Salary/Job boasting / shaming is not ok here.
Avoid boasting about your own salary/job or shaming someone else about theirs (high or low). Everyone is at different levels of their chosen career path.
  4. Off Topic/Advertising
Your post/comment should remain generally on topic to CS Careers. Spam, scam, or links to sites/advertisements that have no relation to CS careers will be removed. Advertisements and links related to CS careers must be cleared by mods first.

  6. No crypto shilling
No promotion of crypto coins, NFTs, or careers in creating or maintaining either.
  7. Separate Facts From Predictions/Personal Experiences. No Doomposting or Fatalism.
Reality is welcome, including bad news, difficult experiences, and legitimate concerns, but not hatefulness or judgementalism. Separate facts, experience, interpretation, and prediction. Your experience is data, not the entire market; your prediction is not a fact. Discuss problems constructively and help others navigate them rather than deciding their future for them.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
