What this page is

This page quotes r/META_AI's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-12. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/META_AI's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

What its rules say about promotion

Self-Promotion
Keep Self-Promotion Tame If you’ve got a project or a cool Meta AI insight to share, go for it—just avoid turning the feed into a personal ad stream. Genuine, on-topic self-promotion is cool as long as it adds to the discussion.
All 8 rules of r/META_AI
  1. Be Respectful and Civil
Be Chill and Respectful Keep it cool. Engage with others in a friendly way—even when you're disagreeing. Think of it as banter among friends, not a battleground. We welcome jokes, banter, and spirited debates, but direct insults and personal attacks are a no-go.
  2. Stay On-Topic
Stay On-Topic All posts and discussions should relate directly to Meta AI. Whether it’s news updates, technical deep-dives, or discussions on ethical implications, keep content focused on Meta’s AI initiatives. Posts that stray into unrelated topics may be removed. (Posts about other AI subjetcs that can link indireclty to Meta I can be tolerated)
  3. Quality Over Quantity
Quality Over Quantity (But Share the Fun, Too!) Put some thought into your posts. Whether you’re sharing research, news, or even a meme, adding context helps everyone follow along and appreciate the content. Low-effort contributions that just echo someone else aren’t as helpful—and fun is best when it’s informed.
  4. Source, cite
Cite When Needed When sharing news, research insights, or interesting facts, a quick nod to your sources is appreciated. No need for heavy citation rules, just a friendly “from [source]” so we know where to look for more details.
  5. Self-Promotion
Keep Self-Promotion Tame If you’ve got a project or a cool Meta AI insight to share, go for it—just avoid turning the feed into a personal ad stream. Genuine, on-topic self-promotion is cool as long as it adds to the discussion.
  6. Tag, Flair
Tag It Right Use relevant flairs and post tags (like “News,” “Discussion,” “Research,” etc.) to help keep our feed organized. This makes it easier for anyone to jump directly into the topics they love.
  7. Embrace Debate, Avoid Drama
Embrace Debate, Avoid Drama Disagreements are natural. Bring your best arguments, backed up with facts and insights—but if a discussion is about to slip into personal drama, take a step back and refocus on the tech.
  8. Follow Reddit’s Basic Guidelines
Follow Reddit’s Basic Guidelines Our little rules here work hand in hand with Reddit’s overall policies. Keep your posts compliant with Reddit’s terms, and we’re all set.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
