What its rules say about promotion
Self-Promotion, Spam, or Affiliate Links
Only mods-authorised users may post links here. Promoting your agency, app, course, newsletter, podcast, YouTube channel, or service is not allowed unless relevant and approved by mods. Affiliate links, referral codes, and disguised monetized links are banned everywhere, including that thread. Always link to the original source. Unauthorised links will be removed.
No App Validation, Dev Research, or Store Sale Posts
Posts looking for "pain points" of store owners, beta testers, app reviews, app validation ideas, or feedback on app and software ideas are not allowed. Pay for proper user research instead of fishing for it here. Store sales and "how do I sell my store" posts are also not permitted due to our inability to protect buyers from scams.
Protect Confidential Info and Follow Shopify's ToS
Do not share sensitive business data, API keys, passwords, customer information, another brand's internal numbers, screenshots of private Slack or Discord conversations, or leaked decks. Redact confidential details in screenshots unless you are comfortable making them public. Your own store data is welcome and encouraged. Do not share, request, or discuss methods to bypass Shopify's terms of service, pirate paid apps or themes, resell themes or courses you did not create, or engage in fraudulent
What its rules say about AI and bots
No AI Slop, Blogspam, or Low-Effort Success Stories
Posts that read as AI-generated, generic listicles, ChatGPT dumps, or thin summaries of well-known advice will be removed. Unsolicited "how I scaled to 7 figures" posts, vague case studies with no numbers or takeaways, "I analyzed 500 stores" engagement bait, and longform posts that exist to funnel traffic to a blog, newsletter, or lead magnet are not allowed either. Genuine case studies and teardowns with specifics, numbers, and honest takeaways are welcome. If you use AI to help draft a post,
All 10 rules of r/shopify_growth
- Posts Must Be About Shopify Growth
This community is dedicated to growing Shopify and DTC brands: acquisition, retention, CRO, merchandising, analytics, apps, and operations that drive revenue. Please ensure your posts and comments are directly relevant to growing a Shopify store. General ecommerce theory, Amazon-only content, and off-platform discussion may be removed. Basic Shopify setup and troubleshooting should go to r/shopify. Store review requests should be posted to r/reviewmyshopify. - Self-Promotion, Spam, or Affiliate Links
- No Solicitation in Comments or DMs
Do not solicit community members via comments or direct messages offering paid services, consultations, audits, or partnerships. Comments like "DM me and I'll audit your store," "I help brands scale to 7 figures, comment below," or "recommending a guy" to invite private solicitation are not allowed. Unsolicited DMs will result in an immediate ban. If someone needs your services, they will reach out to you. - Be Respectful and Professional
Treat all community members with respect, even during disagreements. Assume the person on the other side is an operator trying to figure something out. Harassment, personal attacks, brand bashing, trolling, condescension, and bad-faith arguments will not be tolerated and may result in an immediate ban. NSFW content is strictly prohibited. - Search Before Posting and Provide Context
Search the community before creating a new post to see if your question has already been discussed. When asking for help, include relevant details: your store stage, monthly revenue range, traffic source, what you have already tried, and what specifically you are stuck on. Vague posts like "how do I start a Shopify store," "what app should I use," or "how do I get sales" without context will be removed. - No Dropshipping or "Get Rich" Content
This sub is for people building real brands. Dropshipping playbooks, AliExpress arbitrage, print-on-demand "get rich" content, "how I made $10k in 30 days" income claims, and similar low-substance hustle content are not allowed. Dropship-related posts should be directed to r/dropship or r/dropshipping. - No AI Slop, Blogspam, or Low-Effort Success Stories
Tag your posts with the right flair (Question, Case Study, Teardown, Discussion, Tool Stack, App Feedback, CRO, Retention, Paid Ads, SEO, Email & SMS) to help the community find and respond to content. Minimum account age is 30 days, and minimum karma is 20 comment karma and 20 post karma. Posts and comments below these thresholds will be auto-removed, and moderators will not respond to requests to waive them.
What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
