What its rules say about AI and bots

No disrespect or debating about the use of AI on Etsy
This community is not the place for these discussions. It is counterproductive to the supportive and educational community we are cultivating here. Products made with the use of AI are allowed on Etsy and people do buy these products. If this bothers you, please refrain from commenting.
You must write your own posts and comments
If it sounds like a bot or AI wrote it, it will be removed and you may be banned.
All 13 rules of r/EtsyDigitalSeller
  1. Be respectful and kind
Treat everyone with respect and kindness.
  2. Be helpful and patient
If someone asks a question, answer helpfully even if it is a common question. We all start as beginners! Don't just tell them to read the Etsy Seller Handbook. Add more value to your reply, and link to the relevant page in the handbook if you are mentioning it.
  3. Be empathetic
Think about how your comments will affect the other person before posting it. Be critical of your own writing: it is too blunt? How can you soften it and provide encouragement? If you want to give or receive brutal, harsh feedback, this is not the sub for you.
  4. No promotiom, spam, advertising, affiliate links or research
Promotion, spam and affiliate links are not allowed. No research for your tool or product.
  5. Shop critique requests and questions about your shop's traffic/sales must follow our guidelines
Your shop must be eligible (at least 1 month old with at least 10 listings) and you must provide the required information: https://www.reddit.com/r/EtsyDigitalSeller/wiki/index/
  6. Avoid generic questions without information about your shop
If your question is generic and does not provide enough context about your shop, it may be removed. See https://www.reddit.com/r/EtsyDigitalSeller/wiki/index/ for details.
  7. Promoting your shop is only allowed in the designated sticky thread
Find it at the top under "Community highlights".
  8. Avoid excessive negativity and comments that don't add value
Be constructive, supportive and balanced, otherwise don't comment.
  9. No disrespect or debating about the use of AI on Etsy
This community is not the place for these discussions. It is counterproductive to the supportive and educational community we are cultivating here. Products made with the use of AI are allowed on Etsy and people do buy these products. If this bothers you, please refrain from commenting.
  10. No asking for advice on legal, copyright or trademark issues
We aren't legal professionals so anything we might say is speculative.
  11. You must write your own posts and comments
If it sounds like a bot or AI wrote it, it will be removed and you may be banned.
  12. Don't treat the community like your personal coach
We are here to help but we are not your personal Etsy coach. Respect the comments people have given and don't badger them into giving you more and more specifics. Do not ask anyone to DM you to help you one-on-one.
  13. Do not encourage others to violate Etsy policies
If you are violating Etsy policies and sharing this with our community, you may be banned. This includes sharing your shop if it has trademark/IP violations. Same goes for if you are asking how to get away with violating Etsy policies.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
