What this page is
This page quotes r/scifiwriting's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-10. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/scifiwriting's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.
Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.
Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

What its rules say about promotion
Promotion
Promotion belongs only in the monthly promotion thread. Promoting book/games, groups (writing or otherwise), contests, blogs, channels/podcasts, or anything of the like will result in your post/comment being removed.
What its rules say about AI and bots
No LLM Assisted or Generated Content
We thrive on human creativity here. Content that is created or assisted by LLMs (Large Language Model) does not belong in these spaces and shall not waste our time. If content is suspected to be assisted/generated simply report it and move on.
All 7 rules of r/scifiwriting
- When Posting Stories or Critique
When posting a story or excerpt, create a Google Doc containing your material and then post the link. PDF is also acceptable. Please don't paste your material into the header of the post. After creating your post, make sure to select the appropriate flair. Links to blog-style formats will not be accepted. - Quality
Before you post, ask yourself : Could this not qualify as a high-effort, quality post? Am I asking a question that has been asked hundreds of times, or could be answer with a quick browser search? Are there spelling mistakes? Is the text one big block with no line breaks? Are my links possibly not working? Have I made a link post instead of a text post? Could the community not understand what I am asking of them? And most obviously, does my post not have anything to do with writing Sci-fi? - Promotion
Promotion belongs only in the monthly promotion thread. Promoting book/games, groups (writing or otherwise), contests, blogs, channels/podcasts, or anything of the like will result in your post/comment being removed. - Not Sci-Fi
This content just isn't sci-fi, and should be relocated to its appropriate subreddit. Please do not unleash the psychotic AI at the first sign of "non-scifi" content but rather politely suggest that maybe another writing subreddit is the better place for them. - Give Some, Take Some
We as a community thrive on interaction between each other. People here are spending their own free time to help you out, please do not take this for granted! So before you put up your post asking for people's opinions on your story that you worked so hard on go find someone else's call for help and respond to them (not just: great work! love it!). Give some before you take some it really helps everyone. - No LLM Assisted or Generated Content
We thrive on human creativity here. Content that is created or assisted by LLMs (Large Language Model) does not belong in these spaces and shall not waste our time. If content is suspected to be assisted/generated simply report it and move on. - No Witch-Hunting
It is not your job to call out posts or comments that you suspect might be generated. If you are interacting with it, treat the user and the content as genuine and human. If you suspect it is assisted/generated, report it and do not interact!
What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
