What its rules say about promotion
No Low-Effort Posts & Promotions
We prioritize community value here. Referral and affiliate links are only allowed when paired with significant contextual value—like comprehensive earning guides, personal experience, or detailed research. "Link dropping" without adding real value to the community will result in links being removed. Please do your best to add as much value and genuine advice as possible, and to share your real-world experiences with people.
All 5 rules of r/HonestSideHustles

Treat members with respect. Provide constructive feedback and support. We're all here to learn and grow our side hustle incomes together. - No Low-Effort Posts & Promotions

All posts and comments should be directly related to the best side hustles, money making apps, freelancing, passive income, entrepreneurship, online business, and ways to make money online. - No Fraud Or Schemes
Discussion of illegal activities, pyramid schemes, MLMs, or strategies that involve fraud, identity theft, or unauthorized access is strictly prohibited. We focus on legit side hustle ideas here, so no scams or promises that are too good to be true. - Avoid Unprofessional Financial or Tax Guidance
This community is for sharing side hustle ideas and our personal experiences, not for providing or seeking financial, investing, or tax advice that substitutes professional consultation. Everything in this community should be for educational purposes and shouldn't be framed at specific financial advice. Please do your own research as well.
What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
